Controlling
your dragon is done through a Dragon Telepathic Link or DTL. DTL's
allow you to hear conversations among dragons. Please keep in
mind that the dragonchatter you hear is your *dragon* hearing
the conversations of other dragons. DTL's are provided to help
you role-play the part of your dragon. It's not IC to say that
you as a rider can hear the chatter. Most riders can only hear
their own dragon. Use your DTL to talk to other /dragons/, NOT
other people.
To make
your dragon speak or pose telepathically you use the "pro"
command. You can pro to another dragon, to all the Ista Weyr dragons
or to all the dragons on the MOO at once. You can also pro to
a channel that you've set up with your friends.
To speak
to another dragon you type "pro <dragonname>=message"
(without the quotes). For example, typing "pro Norieth=Hello,
Norieth" returns >>I bespoke Norieth with: Hello, Norieth<<
To do
a pose using a pro you type "pro <dragonname>=:pose"
(without the quotes). For example, typing "pro Norieth=:sends
a tickle down the link" returns >>I bespoke Norieth
with: I sense <your dragon> sends a tickle down the link<<
If you
want to "get fancy" you can use a pose to include a
thought by putting dragon quotes >><< around the thought.
Like this pro Norieth=:sends a tickle down the link >>Hello,
Norieth<< It would show up as >>I bespoke Norieth
with: I sense <Your dragon> sends a tickle down the link
>>Hello, Norieth<<<<
To pro
to all Istan dragons at once you type "pro weyr=message"
or "pro weyr=:pose" (without the quotes).
If our
example dragon, Ambarth, did "pro weyr=Hello" the player
would see >>(Ista Weyr) Ambarth bespoke all >>Hello<<
or "pro weyr=:sneezes" would return >>(Ista Weyr)
Ambarth sneezes<<
To pro
to all the dragons on the Moo (Ista and Fort) you type "pro
all=message" or "pro all=:pose" (without the quotes).
If Ambarth
did "pro all=Hello" the player would see >>Ambarth
bespoke all >>Hello << or "pro all=:sneezes"
would return >>Ambarth sneezes<<
There
is a command called "verbose" that lets you see an echo
of what you sent. If that's too spammy for you, type verbose and
you'll get a message that you are set to !verbose. When you type
"pro dragonname=whatever" you would just get >>I
bespoke <dragonname><< without a repeat of the pose.
Verbose is a "toggle" switch. Typing it again sets you
back to verbose.
Dragon
Channels
DCHANNELS:
You can add channels to speak with other dragons. You can quiet
the pros you receive or even block out another dragon if you are
getting spammed. Be courteous in using the "pro all"
command. Not everyone needs to hear your dragon mind-tickling
your friend's dragon at Fort. Here are some of the commands for
channels:
channels Shows
the DTL channels you're on
addchannel <channel name> Adds a DTL channel
delchannel <channel name> Removes a DTL channel
cwho <channel name> Who's listening to the channel
pro <channel>=<message> Sends your message
over the channel.
quiet channels Blocks out all but personal messages
quiet all Blocks out all messages
quiet on Blocks out all but channels and personal messages
quiet off Removes blocks.
Typing addchannel <channel
name> adds a DTL channel. As new weyrlings we'd like you to
type "addchannel lings" (without the quotes). This will
put you on the weyrling dragon channel. That's a good place to
practice! "pro lings=message" or "pro lings=:pose"
returns >>[lings] Ambarth bespoke all >>message<<
or >>[lings] Ambarth poses<<
