HISTORY OF THE WEYR

Dark Cove Weyr was built in a cove on the Southern Continent, on the old stakehold of Macedonia, because of overpopulation in the north and south. Construction was started at the beginning of the 14th pass, as the last of three Weyrs: Dark Cavern and Dark Cave are the others. It is built into a crescent shaped cliff facing the ocean around a beautiful white sand cove. Green hills roll behind the Weyr, and tropical forests grow further out. Construction was complete in the eighth month of turn 14.

A meeting between Weyrleaders led to the decision that whatever junior gold rose first out of all the golds in the Southern Weyrs, and the bronzerider that caught her, would be the Weyrwoman and Weyrleader of Dark Cove. A young gold, Julanith, rose before construction was completed on the Weyr, and was caught by T'ren's bronze Zapheth. The clutch produced 15 eggs, including a gold, which hatched Harpeth. Shelah Impressed the little queen.

A little while after the Hatching, a bronzerider from Telgar Weyr, F'lea and his bronze Jekitath, arrived and became Weyrleader's 2nd...unknown to the Weyrleaders at Dark Cove, his previous position had been wingsecond and his weyrleader was only too happy to get rid of him. A goldrider also arrived as the Weyrleaders had requested from Ista Weyr-Jenine, rider of gold Ralanth was made Weyrwoman's 2nd. She is a young gold and is in the process of clutching her second clutch.

Clutches seem to grow nearer now, with three mature golds in the weyr. Sometime this turn, Shelah and her young gold Harpeth will rise for the first time. Many are looking foreward to seeing another gold egg laid on the sands-the only question is, when?

The weyr maintains a decent relationship with the surrounding holds. Though ine in particular, has a new lord holder that needs to learn a thing or two about dragonriders. But with good reason, due to the growing number of bandits and pirates Impressing dragons! (The weyrleader being one of them...*snicker*)

Things are turning out nicely, except for Asul and his bandits wanting to kill the weyrleader and anything that has to do with him, which includes our dear weyrwoman. Pirates seem to hold grudges...
