Dark Cove Weyr Guide

Welcome to Dark Cove Weyr! We're a pbem Weyr set in the 14th Pass. There are a lot of ranking positions that need to be filled, plus we now have three mature golds, so clutches will be on the Sands more often =)

History

Dark Cove Weyr was built in a cove on the southern continent (on the old stakehold of Macedonia, in the cove right to the left of the peninsula) because of overpopulation in the north and south in the 14th Pass, turn 12, as the last of three Weyrs (Dark Cavern and Dark Cave are the others). It is built into a cresent shaped cliff facing the ocean around a beautiful sandy cove. Green hills roll behind the Weyr, and tropical forests grow further out. Construction was complete in the eighth month of turn 14.

As is tradion, the first gold to rise would determine the Weyrwoman, and whoever's bronze caught her would be the Weyrleader. A young gold, Julanith, rose for the first time before the Weyr was finished being built, and was caught by T'ren's bronze Zapheth. The clutch produced 15 eggs, including a gold, which hatched Harpeth. Shelah Impressed the little queen. A little while after the Hatching, a bronzerider from Telger Weyr, arrived and became Weyrleader's 2nd, because of the good things said about him by his former Weyrleader. A goldrider also arrived as the WeyrLeaders had requested from Ista Weyr, Jenine, rider of gold Ralanth, was made Weyrwoman 2nd. She has risen twice, and is in the process of clutching her second clutch. We are in the 14th Pass, turn 16, and a lot has been happening these past few months.

Holds and Crafthalls (ask about Lord Holder and CraftMaster positions)
There are four major holds in our territory, Dark Cove Hold (built at the same time as the Weyr, directly south of the Weyr), Point Hold (On the peninsula), River Inlet Hold (on the shore of what the ancient's called Hawiian River, now called Dark River ), and Timor Hold (in the wide plains of what was Macedonia stakehold). Many sea holds can be found along the coast, and there are numerous holds up against the mountains farther south.
There are many crafthalls as well. The crafts on Pern in our timeline are as follows:

Rules

Anne McCaffrey's official rules
1. No using characters from any of her books.
2. No colors other than Gold, Bronze, Brown, Blue and Green. No more White ones.
3. No plots from any place in her books. Your character is allowed to have been born there, but their parents must now be living in another place.
4. No religion. Period
5. No super powers. (Other than HAD and the telepathic link with your _own_ dragon)
6. No cross overs, such as Darth Vader ect.
7. There are rules as to what colors can be ridden by people of certian sexes and sexual oriantations:
golds: hetrosexual women
bronzes: hetrosexual men
browns: hetrosexual men
blues: hetrosexual, bi, and homosexual men, homosexual and bi women
greens: bi and homosexual men, hetrosexual, bi, and lesbian women

If you break the rules, we will warn you once. If you break them again, you will be expelled from the club.

DCW's Basic Rules
1. No slamming, putting down, calling names of anyone at all. Those who disobey this rule as well as any other that Anne McCaffrey, Beth, or Cassie create, will be dealt with quickly and harshly.
2. No using other's sonas without written permission. That written permission must then be sent to Beth (SweetiePie7487@aol.com) and Cassie (Chika1253@aol.com).
3. No killing off of any persona character, but especially ranking personae, without express permission from the BoD. We will tell you how to dispose of them properly.
4. This rule is the most important of all and you will be expected to follow it word for word. Have Fun!
5. We give out ALL Gold and MOST Bronze flitters. They are earned.
6. This is a PG-13 club. If your 12 or younger, then sorry you cannot join.
7. It is not a set in stone rule, but Beth and Cassie like to interview each person. This may change as the Weyr expands, but we like meeting our new members. Just spending some quality time with them. If you have AOL then E-mail or IM us. IF you have another server the e-mail us
8. For RPing mating flights, we have certain rules. Whether it is a green or a gold that is rising, the rules are the practicly same. First, email Cassie and Beth (Chika1253@aol.com and SweetiePie7487@aol.com) and tell them that you would like your green or gold to rise. Then you may send out a OOC email to the group telling them that anyone with _mature_ blues, browns, and bronzes, that you will be having a mating flight. Ask them to email you telling you that they would like to be in your mating flight, and then add them to a list. You can choose who catches your green or gold, but for golds, you must email the Weyrleaders telling them who you have chosen to fly your gold.

Weyrlingmaster's Seconds-- 2 stories a Turn, MUST ride a Bronze or Brown dragon with 5 or more Turns of flight experience, and be at the Weyrlingmaster's beck and call. Helps with reports/mailers. (FULL)
Weyrlingmaster's Assistants--1 stor a turn, can ride any color, 2 or more turns of flight experience. Help with reports/mailers. (OPEN)
Bronzerider-- 2 stories a Turn. (OPEN)

Timing
There will be no "Timing It". Timing it means going back in time. We won't do that.

Firelizards
In our weyr they are referred to as Flits, or Flitters. We will only allow 5 at a time and only one gold. If that many. All Gold Flits are given out as prizes or as rewards. You can request any color accept Gold & Bronze on your persona sheet. Dark Cove Weyr is by the beach, so it is possible for your sona to find a clutch on the beach. If they do, then they will be expected to take them to BeastMaster Celena. But before your sona finds a clutch, you mush check with Beth and Cassie. Remember that greens cannot clutch large clutches and if they do, they rarely have browns and certainly no golds or bronzes.

HAD
HAD means "Hears All Dragons." We will accept these, however you must write a four paragraph report on why your persona deserves this special talent. If your HAD is female, that doesn't mean that they will automaticly impress a gold dragon. HAD males are quite rare.

Impression From The Stands
Because these stories get really old, we are going to limit them. Only if you can give us a good enough plot for the hatching, and a good enough reason why your sona should impress from the stands we may talk. Other than that, Beth and Cassie might just ask someone if they want to impress from the stands.

Some Guidlines on Creating a Persona
1. Avoid the stereo type sona. We want your sona to be noticed right? So just make them have different personality quarks.
2. Do not make a superpersona. That is where a sona is good at everything, is nice to everyone, and is basicaly perfict. Also try not to go too far in the other direction. Like making them be too mean or ugly.
3. Being an only child is VERY rare. Having a twin is also VERY rare. Only on special cercumstances will you be permitted to have a persona as an only child, since Pern has no way of birth conrol. Twins are even a bit more rare. So please avoid these.

Dragons and Their Riders
When a dragon talks to their rider it is shown in {{}} because not everyone can see italic's on their computers. When a rider talks to their dragon it will be shown in [[]]. Since not everyone can see italic's on their computers, then all stressed words such as "between" will be shown with underscores or backslashes. Example /between/ _between_.

On Candidates
Candidates are permitted to have Felines and Flitters in the Candidate Barraks. No Canines though. They are to large. Candidates are NOT permitted to have a relationship with another candidate, or Weyrling. Due to the stress that it will put on their dragon when and if they impress. If they do impress somehow without Beth and Cassie's knowledge of their relationship, then we are sorry to say your dragon will go between. The stress of having a lover, boyfriend or girlfriend would be to great. If you two were to break up then your dragon would feel your sarrow or anger. They would think they were hurt and go between. Before the Clutch hatches you will be asked to fill out these questions and send them to Beth and Cassie.
