This weekend was the debacle we call SeaFair. It consists of loud, stinky boats racing around Lake Washington with plenty of drunk suburbanites crowding the shores in large trucks. There's also the Torchlight parade and Blue Angels which, although they at least provide some people an enjoyable viewing experience, manage to snarl traffic all over town for the week. The worst part of it is the Central District parade which goes down 23rd Ave beginning at the same time that the Blue Angels end their Saturday show; basically pinning thousands of motorists in our neighborhood. All that being said, Pete and Reagan hosted a little party and we walked down to the "pits". The above photo shows when they lift a boat into the water as well as one of the stunt planes behind. It takes me a while to recover from the invasion and I'm sure it takes the lake a year to recover from the pollution (noise and otherwise) -- just in time for the next year!
