I am not sure whether my procrastination of posting the latest pic of the week was due to lazyness or needing more time to let the wounds heal. In any event, this week's post is in honor of a great season turned in by the Seattle Seahawks. Having grown up in Seattle and living back here once again it has been hard to be an ardent supporter. Thirty-plus years is a long time to wait for the big game. Unfortunately things did not bounce our way on Superbowl Sunday. A couple of missed tackles, poor reading of trick plays, and, yes, rotten calls resulted in a feeling for a season that could have been. There is no need to debate the officiating in this game: either you think it was poorly officiated or you think it wasn't. Don't care. We had a great time at Matt and Chelsea's, kids and many crockpots included. Here is to another great season for the home team! While I am on the subject of professional sports let me go on the record and say that it is a travesty that public taxpayers' money is siphoned from the programs that need it most (particularly public education) and sent to fullfil the whims of a billionaire's privately owned entertainment investment. I agree that professional sports teams help create the identity for major cities throughout the U.S. (and world) but it shouldn't be at the expense of more valuable public endeavors. |
