Thomas Burgess - Forever Loved

This has to be the hardest thing I've written on here. On Wednesday 2nd of June, a dear dear friend to all members of the band and one of the biggest Silverose fans - Thomas Burgess - tragically died.

He was the most respected person I've ever known and was loved as a friend by everybody. He has never spoken any bad words about anybody. Most times in these kind of circumstances, people will say 'It could not have happened to a nicer person', and usually when this is said, it's a lie. However, I can say it and mean it with pure confidence.

Tom meant so much to Silverose becoming one of our biggest fans. He was one of the crazy fans supporting us on in our first ever gig in late January. The funny memory of that night from him was when he was going so crazy that he jumped up and hit the light with his head! Tom was a key motivator in the Rowsley gig on February 22nd. I remember him saying to me before the show 'Murray, you do what you did last month man! Bring down the house! Oh yeah, but don't thank the Royal Oak.' The most recent Silverose accosiated memory of Tom was only last Sunday night. Tom was one of only four friends who came to watch us as we played in Shirland. The gig was video recorded by Tom. Later that night, we stayed at a friends house. He complimented me so much I felt so proud and so honoured to have him as a friend.

A couple of things were mensioned by Tom last Sunday night. He had told me that Sweet Child of Mine is his most favourite song ever and we had played that song on Sunday night. He also requested us to play Run to the Hills at a future gig, this will be played in forthcoming setlists. I've just been speaking with Jimmi and if the other band members agree then we will go ahead with the following three movements. 1) The DEMO realeased later in the year will be dedicated to the memory of Tom. 2) A song will be placed on that demo written about Tom. A verse will be written by each member who knew him. 3) A sponsored gig will be played by Silverose as a memory to Tom. The money raised will go towards something in rememberence of Thomas Burgess. Please let me know your thoughts of this.

Tom was loved by everybody who knew him and will never be forgotten. He will be missed by us all and there will not be a day that goes by where I won't think of him. On behalf of Silverose, may he rest in peace.

Did you miss it?!

The 14 day wait to see Silverose was cut short last night when Silverose played a suprise set at Royal Oaks 'Jam Night.'

It was round about 6.30pm Tuesday 24th June when Silverose (minus rhythm guitarist Jac Hurley) set up their equipment at Robinsons factory to practice for Sundays gig. And round about an hour later Silverose decided upon playing at the Royal Oak later on in the night. Many songs were considered to play (keep in mind the night only allows two songs to be played) but the band was limited to a point because Jac was absent and could not play the gig. However, after much discussion, Enter Sandman and Broken World (Fuz played Jacs guitar part for Broken World) were the songs that would end up coming out of the amps at The Oak.

We hit the stage at about 10 o'clock with Dave playing the whole guitar parts by himself. The song was played almost perfectly with not one mess up. We got screaming girls after Sandman usually unwelcome by heavy metal bands but it was more than welcome to my ears!! On a high, I opened Broken World with the memorable dave-written riff and Jimmi hit a different bass line for it. The song was played awesomely again and Dave and Shay both showing how amazing they are on their instruments. It was unbelievable and so elating. Every gig we play feels so good it's unreal.

The gig has been postponed please note, but don't worry the wait won't be too long...about 24 hours really. Silverose will be playing at Shirland golf club on Sunday 29th June instead of the initial Saturday 28th June. Hope you all can still attend.

All I can say is that if last night was a taster of Sunday night, it's going to be the best night of Chesterfields metal life :-)

Three Months Unspoken

Three months unspoken leads to a 14 day wait. After about 3 months 3 weeks without playing to a live audience, Silverose are once again going to conquer.

The exams are almost over which only means one thing, gig galore motherfucker! The initial gig of the summer will take place exactly a fortnight from today with Silverose headlining a show at Shirland golf club. Great venue, great atmosphere. Good booze at the bar! Come to see Silverose for a fee of nothing at Shirland golf club on the 28th June, ask for directions through the email facility. New songs on the agenda, we're fuckin' excited and so should you be! We'll be supported by our mates 'Embargo' (a mellow indie 'stoner' styled band) which is ace. They're excellent, which will guarentee a night of awe.

This is going to mark the start of a summer dedicated to The Rose's. Commencing with the gig in a fortnight and finalising with the making of the demo.

All news to come...Will keep you posted, stay tuned...WELCOME BACK :-) We've missed you!

Features on site

Yo. There is a new feature on the site. Scroll to the foot of your page and you will be able to observe the 'Message Board'. I decided to put this on so that we all can discuss particular and specific topics. Also, a point was raised a while ago about a 'request' system on the site (where people can request what songs they wish to hear from the Silverose amps. So use this as a temporary way to do this. We will acknowledge the most popular and summarise whether we wish to cover these. As well as covers, please tell us what kind of music (original tunes) you want to Silverose to write. I will look forward to what you all have to say.

New song

Hey hey bitches. Just updating to say that a new song is on its way! About time too! War Cry was started towards the later stages of 2002 and that was the last song so three months later, a new song is in the process.

The song was first observed by the band in a short practice session on Sunday afternoon. I can describe the song in many ways, but heavy shit describes it perfectly! The song has a very 'mosh' feel to the song, double bass pedal, thumping bass, shredding guitars, drop D tuning, nuff said. The song - I feel - is taking an Anthrax, SOiL, Slayer edge. It'll be amazing to play live. Still in the early stages, first impressions though = awesome!

Reporting

The James Wheeldon report is finally here! If you wish to view the report of the Silverose gig on Saturday 22nd February, please click here. Thanks James, I'm very appreciative! Makes the night even more memorable! :-)

We played at the Royal Oak on Tuesday night, also. Another storming night, loads of confidence on stage from us all. We played two of our own songs, War Cry and Broken World. Both songs were played to perfection by us. Dave, Jimmi and Jac were all using the guitars provided, which did not go down well! But apart from the quality of the sound of the guitars, we played as well as ever I thought. Thanks for coming along :-)

On a sadder note, we are maybe taking a break from live shows. We may still be playing at The Royal Oak on the last Tuesday of every month, but no big gigs are intended, this is due to an important accedemic time of the year. That is the bad news, but we will be having many, many practices in that period, hopefully resulting: in original songs composed for the upcoming demo, recording of the demo, and many more covers covered for gigs after our GCSE exams.

On a very bright note, Rob Foster and James Wheeldon are currently considering organising a music festival with Silverose headlining. This will take place in a couple of months and will sure to be a knockout event. The festival may be called Rosefest. If you have any comments or requests of any kind, please don't hesitate to do so on the guestbook.

Please also note that we finally have pictures up on the website! Scroll down to the foot of this page, and view them! Thanks to Mike Pilcher for helping me with these.

Rowsley victimised

Two days after the gig, I know it's late, but wow, what a night we had. The anticipation, the time on stage and the after-math were all so good. The hour long set did not tire me out, I could have been up there for so long. I was getting carried away! Another great gig for us. As you may know, James Wheeldon is writing a report on Saturday night so I'll leave it brief for the mean time. I'd just like to say to all of you thank you so much for coming and paying your money! We hope that you enjoyed us. If you did, then make sure you don't miss out tomorrow night, 25th, Royal Oak, 9.00pm. We'll try to give it our best again :-) Thank you.

Almost There!

Yesterday was another successful session of practicing for us. For the first time, the set was played through from start to finish. Obviously, as it was the first time, it was not perfect. There are a few songs which need perfecting and some which need good endings put to them, but other than that everything is definately on track. It seems as though we'll have many practices during the holidays as well which is an added bonus.

About the show on Saturday, there's been some speculation about set times and tickets on the guestbook, I see. To clear things up, we are scheduled to be playing a 40 minute slot which commences at 19.40 and finishes at 20.20. However, playing yesterday, we measured the time of our set to be about 55 minutes long. So we will play until our set finishes, if we have to go over the destined time to finish then so be it! We'll give you your moneys worth :-)

Also, I recommend to arrive at about 18.50. Events start at 19.00 which includes distribution of drinks and beverages and the music will begin at 19.40. Tickets are not sold out, but, obviously, as it's the holidays you will not be able to purchase a ticket at school. So if you need to book a ticket send me an e-mail and I will book it for you. YOU CANNOT PURCHASE TICKETS ON THE NIGHT

Update

Silverose have been rocking Robinsons factory today with a practice for the forthcoming Rowsley gig. In my opinion it was a great day for us today. Dave had his new amp which is the same as Jax which is cool. Shay was with the band today. He was sounding awesome! SR worked on Broken World and War Cry mainly today. Broken World took about 10 minutes to put a good drum beat to and War Cry took about 3 hours! However, dispite the length of the time it took, it sounded so good. Shay has a certain technique about his drumming which matches the Silverose music and completes the song to be perfect. The song is just amazing with drums. I hope you will witness it in Rowsley. Hopefully we can have two more practices before the gig to complete everything. Stay positive :-)

Date added

Great news hit Silverose today! A new date has been added to this months schedule. The band will be opening the Rowsley music festival on Saturday 22nd Feburary. Silverose will play the opening set (30minutes) and be re-introduced to the stage later on in the night to play another half hour set. We recommend to get tickets in advance if you wish to see the band play. Tickets are priced at £4.50. Year 11's and above are all welcome. For more information go to the gigs page at the bottom of this page.

Update

Yo all. I have changed the Broken World lyrics slightly because - to put it straightly - they were pretty blunt! I need to change them for Febuary's gig (25th) aswell, as this would not suit the atmosphere! Heh.

I've also just been speaking to Jac and it looks like we MAY have a gig on the 22nd of this month in Rowsely. I'll keep you all informed on the status of that.

No practice today I'm afraid. No one could make it and it just wasn't meant to be.

Thanks for all the hits on the website :-) 258 in one month ain't bad!

Demo news - Our new demo should be out in about 3 months. 3-5 tracks will be placed on the record including War Cry. I ain't sure about Broken World, but we have many songs in the process. We'll see what happens with those.

Justice is DONE!

One word can perfectly describe the whole experience: phenomenal!. From the moment we walked into The Royal Oak the emotions got to me! Ok, so we didn't play at a Woodstock or anything but this meant so much to us and we will certainely remember Tuesday night, 29th of January. We were very nervous before the performance even though I tried to deny it! However, the time struck what must have been 9.45pm and Silverose were introduced to the stage for the first time in our history. We had our following in the crowd and members of families, it definately meant everything to all of us. I felt very nervous stood up there at the front infront of everybody but half way through Enter Sandman (#1) the nerves had past and the excitement begun.

We pulled off both songs very well considering that we only had one practice with Shay! Jack and Dave were both playing those solos amazingly, JiMMi - on a Jackson bass! - Was playing bass right out of himself and Shay was going crazy on the drums. I wasn't amazing, but thank you to everybody who complimented me, it meant so much to me, thank you. After we had gone off stage, the reality really hit me. We were getting congratulations from everybody, things such as 'Excellent', 'Amazing', 'Bags of talent' were being said. It made all of us feel so good and overwhelmed. It was such a great night and hopefully the start of a lot of things. I'm still buzzing.

Here is a list of people who the band would like to thank for last night: Mike Coult (Thanks for the advice!), James Wheeldon (Thanks for the drink and support!), Rob Foster (Thanks for the recording!), Ben Mansell (Thanks for the hard rocking bro! heh.) Tom Burgess, Marcus Phillips, Chris Blackwell (Thanks for the craziness and support! Respect to you all!) Neil Turner, Rick Mansell, Dave Foster, Shays parents, Real Time Music (Thanks for the many compliments!!) Without any of you it would not have been the night it was. Thankyou so much, we owe you! Same time next month?

One Day 'Till Justice!

Hey, Fuz - as always - here. Just posting the last message before the gig. I really can't wait, there is going to be such adrenalin in us all and we're gonna make this one to remember. I'm really nervous - better not forget my lyrics or anything. However, it isn't too bad about Saturday's practice anymore. I'm too excited to worry about one less song. Please, wish us luck. We have about 10-15 people - of who we know - turning up tomorrow night so thanks to all of you and we'll see you there :-) Peace out. Heh.

Not In The Factory

Today, at about midday we were struck with disappointment. A new security company has taken over our practice venue and changed all the locks which meant that we could not enter and had nowhere to practice! Everyone is very pissed about this but, on the good side, THE GIG WILL GO ON! Of course. However, we will NOT be playing Fade to Black as this has not been practiced. So, Enter Sandman and Nothing Else Matters are on the list for Tuesday nights performance. Hope to see you there and we're gonna play our souls out. We deserve this!!!

New Drummer!

The band has taken a turn for the best! Shay Stevens has decided to join the band on a full time basis after playing with the band on a practice last week. Filling in former drummers place, Mike Pilcher, Shay has stepped in to offer his pure talent and ideas into the band. Great news, and now the great expectations can begin. The dream is certainly clearer and brighter!
