IRON MAIDEN Iron Maiden has always been renowned as a truly great live act, displaying a power and ferocity rarely equaled. On stage, the band breathes fire. Recorded live, Iron Maiden is always an event. The band's previous live recording, 1986's Live After Death, was a huge success, selling millions worldwide, and now, seven years on, a worthy successor to Live After Death is available: A Real Live One. For A Real Live One, the band recorded over a dozen shows on the extensive European leg of their 1992 "Fear of the Dark World Tour. "Among the shows documented on tape are Castle Donnington's colossal Monsters of Rock performance, plus Monsters of Rock festivals in Italy Germany, along with concerts in Paris, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Madrid and Luceme. Band founder and leader Steve Harris selected, produced and mixed the material at his own Barnyard Studios in Essex. Following Bruce Dickinson's decision to leave Maiden to pursue other projects following their 1992 tour late last year, the recordings take on added significance as the final documentation of this classic line-up. Initially, the album was to be a double-disc release, however with consideration for the fans, this was changed. Says Steve Harris, "We have a wealth of live material and considered putting it out as a double, like Live After Death. However, the price of double CDs is very high, especially when there is a general worldwide recession. So we decided to put out two separate albums. The first album, A Real Live One, will feature live versions of songs written since 1986 and will compliment Live After Death by giving a broad live perspective of Maiden's career to date. The next live album, A Real Dead One, will be released later this year and will feature songs written before 1986. This is designed for newer fans who don't have Live After Death and for those who want the older songs played by the current line-up of Maiden." "We're going to record additional concerts during the Spring European tour, so A Real Dead One will include some rare songs we haven't played in years," he continues. "That will give Bruce a great send-off and set the scene for a new singer and focusing on the future." Maiden's headline appearances at Castle Donnington's Monsters of Rock music festival was also filmed last year - directed by Samuel Bayer - for release as a long-form video later this year. IRON MAIDEN
The first release scheduled to hit the stores on March 23rd, A REAL LIVE ONE , is a compilation of live performances that capture the power and excitement of metal's favorite monsters! No other metal band can claim the kind of success that Iron Maiden has enjoyed over the years. Steve, Bruce, Dave, Nicko and Janick have come home to Capitol with a concert album typical of the ferocious speed, lacerating lyrics, and earsplitting guitars that have made them the heroes of metal. A REAL LIVE ONE is IRON MAIDEN's first live album since 1985's LIVE AFTER DEATH. Recorded over the course of 12 shows during the summer/fall tour of 1992, this recording features live versions of the best tracks from SOMEWHERE IN TIME, SEVENTH SON OF A -SEVENTH SON, NO PRAYER FOR THE DYING, and FEAR OF THE DARK.
