Bruce Almighty

Banned in several countries for being sacreligious, this movie made a crapload of money. OK, a little background on me. I was raised Catholic and am a serious Christian, but I don't get offended like many. So, just like I loved Dogma, I enjoyed this as well.

Bruce is down on his luck. He feels ordinary and really wants an anchor position at the TV station he works at. When that doesn’t happen, he loses his job altogether, gets the crap beat out of him, and crashes his car. Oops, sorry, to much info there. Anyway, he challenges God, and the challenge is answered. Imbued with all His powers, the selfish human being is out to right all the wrongs in his life. This movie answers the question, “if I had powers, what would I do with them?” Let’s put it this way-if I had those powers, this world would implode.

A great comedy all the way through (as is to be expected from Jim Carrey), this one deserves a chance. Well, if you can handle it, that is. This one gets 5.5 fingers out of 7.
