ABOUT
SPELLS

A spoken or written formula which, in the act of magic or divination, is intended to create or change a particular course of events.
The belief in spells and their employment dates back to antiquity. Spells have become an integral part of various religious and
magical practices. Their methods vary accordingly from culture to culture, but all spells function on ritual activity.
Spells are closely related to prayers, in that they both are a means of petitioning a deity or deities for a particular desired outcome,
and which require the visualization of the goal, statement of desire for the goal and ritualized movements or body positions, such as
the bowing of the head, the folding or clasping of hands, or shutting of the eyes, etc.
Spells are also closely related to the various methods of employing the powers of the mind, such as "creative visualization,"
"positive thing," and "positive imaging." Such methods help the one casting the spell to emphasize his mental images so he can
better identify with these images and form a clear goal . The person repeats his intention to achieve the particular goal and
combines it with the projection of his will and the invocation of the aid of the spirits, deities or Divine Force.
There are various types of spells. Some are beneficial while others are harmful. Some claim they may be worked on man and beast
alike. Their purposes are limitless including healing, love, success, money, fertility, longevity, protection against disaster, illness,
misfortune and evil, exorcism of ghosts and spirits, victory in war and over an enemy, truth in divination, weather control and
accomplishment of supernatural feats. When casted against enemies spells may be used to bring about illness, destruction, loss of
love, impotence, loss of property, failure and even death.

A person can cast a spell for himself, or direct it toward another person. A positive spell is called a blessing. A negative spell usually
known as a hex or curse. Archaic terms for spells include bewitchment and enchantment. A binding spell is on that is casted with
the intention of preventing harm or disaster, or to stop someone from performing a particular act such as a murder or rape, or
something as inoffensive as spreading gossip. Structure of a spell:

An act of magic, that requires a magician, witch or sorcerer, performing a spell in a ritual. The spell itself consists of words or
incantation (sometimes called charms or runes). The ritual is a prescribed set of actions performed while the spell is being recited.
For example, the ancient Egyptians believed words were so powerful that speaking them would achieve the desired result. Certain
words and Names on Power were essential in Egyptian magic and had to be pronounced correctly and with the proper intonation.
The Tetragrammaton is the ultimate name on power in Western ceremonial magic.

A spell-casting ritual involves the raising of power through the combination of visualization, incantation (the statement of a goal),
petition of the deities and projection of the will. It is thought that the success of the spell rests on the power and will raised and the
skill with which they are focused and projected. All of these powers go into spell casting. Things aiding spell casting include words,
chants, songs, movements or dance which may be accompanied by the use of objects such as ritual tools, effigies, poppets, cords,
candles, and nail clippings. Present:

In most cultures witches, sorcerers, witch doctors, and other magically empowered persons cast spells which can be either
beneficial or harmful. Spells are cast to meet the needs of an individual or a group of people. They can be can by an individual or a
group, such as a solitary witch or witches in a coven.

The ethics set forth within the Wiccan Reed prohibits the casting of curses within neo-Pagan witchcraft. Also within this group
there is divided agreement on the acceptability of binding spells.

Generally the words of the incantation used in casting spells are spontaneous and composed to serve the immediate purpose.
Rhyming words or verses help to create rhythm to boaster the increasing of energy. While many effective spells and charms may
be found in books on witchcraft, folk magic and magic most witches and magicians believe spells composed from the heart work the
best. They know just the recitation of a chant or charm does not cast a spell. Along with this many witches and magicians believe
that the words of the incantation are not as important as their intent. This involves, during ceremonial magic, the focus of intense
concentration and will upon achieving the goal, visualizing it and believing that it already has been accomplished. When the psychic
power has peaked, it is released and directed toward the goal. A psychic cleanup ritual finishes the spell casting work, this is to
banish any remnants of psychic energy. The invoked deities and forces of the elements are thanked.
This section is to help those that are new to the craft get a general understanding of how spells workBlessed Be
To All Who Walk In The Light Of The Goddes

Binding
The purpose of this spell is to rid yourself of the
negative energies of someone who is mentally or emotionally abusing you. If done properly, it will not harm the object of the spell
nor will it affect his or her daily life in any way. It will simply make the person powerless to
mentally or emotionally harm you.
Materials:
Small cloth doll, leave the head unstitched until you are ready to begin the ritual
Needle and thread
Some personal item from the person you want to bind
(fingernail clippings, hair, handwriting sample)
Black ribbon
Black candle
Cauldron or other fireproof container
Sterilized needle
Piece of paper and pen
One candle at each quarter (optional)
Ritual:
Call the quarters - I like to use candles at each quarter to form a circle of fire for extra protection.
Light the black candle
Concentrating deeply on the person you are binding, place the personal object inside the head of the doll and sew it shut.
Tie the black ribbon around the poppet's head, signifying the binding of that person.
''With harm to none, my will be done
I hereby bind you (name of person)
Your words cannot harm me
Your thoughts cannot harm me
You cannot harm me''
Continue chanting this or something like it until you feel power surging through you. Visualize the person helpless to slander or
verbally and mentally abuse you while you are chanting.
Now, to bind the spell -
If you have a sigil or a Craft name, sign it on the small piece of paper. If not, sign your own full name. If others are working the
ritual with you, they too should sign the paper.
With the sterilized needle, prick one of your fingers and put a small drop of blood over your signature. Again, if others are working
with you, they should place a drop of blood over their signatures. (using a different needle, of course)
Fold the paper, light it on fire and drop it into the
cauldron (which should be on a heat-proof surface!).
Meditate on the flames until the paper completely burns away. If you are working with a group, join hands at this point and feel the
power surging around the circle as the spell is bound.
Ground and center
Release the circle. Thank the Goddess and God for their protection and power
Bury the doll as far away from you as possible within the next few days.

A Spell of Protection

Sit or stand before any fire. Look into the flames (or flame, if using a candle). Visualize the fire bathing you with glowing, protective
light. The fire creates a flaming, shimering sphere around you. If you wish, say the following or similar words:
"Craft the spell in the fire;
Craft it well; Weave it higher.
Weave it now of shining flame;
None shall come to hurt or maim.
None shall pass this fiery wall;
None shall pass No, none at all."
Repeat this simple yet effective ritual every day when in need.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To Find
True Love

This is one of my favorite spells!!! It is performed on the first Friday after the New Moon. To perform this spell you will need the
following items: two pink candles, annointing oil (I use a mixture of Rose, Lavendar, Jasmine, and Ylang/Ylang oils), a piece of rose
quartz, incense (such as Rose or Lavendar) and nine rose buds (preferably pink or red).
Before you begin your spell, you must get into the right frame of mind. One of the best ways that I have found to do this is to take a
ritual bath. This serves two purposes -- one, it relaxes you and gives you time to meditate on the spell that you are about to
perform, and two, if you throw a tablespoon or two of sea salts into the water, it offers protection.
After you have taken your ritual bath, you may begin your spell. Begin by lighting an incense stick or cone. Next, take one of the
pink candles and hold it in your hands. Visualize your need -- your desire to find true love. Next annoint your candle with the oil
that you have chosen. This is done by placing a little of the oil on your fingertips. Grasp the candle at its midpoint with your left
index finger and thumb, and use your right index finger and thumb to stroke oil on the candle from the midpoint up to the top of
the candle. Next, grasp the candle at its midpoint with your right index finger and thumb, and use your left index finger and thumb
to stroke oil on the candle from the midpoint down to the bottom of the candle. Continue in this fashion until the entire candle has
been annointed. While ritually annointing your candle, visualize a pure white beam of light coming up from Mother Earth, entering
your body through the soles of your feet and another beam of white light coming down from the Universe and entering your body
through the top of your head. Envision the energy of these beams of light flowing throughout your body and mingling together,
finally concentrating in your hands, causing them to feel warm and to tingle. Now continue to stroke your candle until you feel the
energy from your hands transfer to the candle. Your candle is now charged with your personal energy and magickal intent. Pick up
the next pink candle and hold it in your hands. Visualize the man or woman that you desire (not a specific person -- just the type of
person you desire). Think about the traits that you are looking for in a mate. After you have finished your visualization, annoint the
candle (as above). Place the two pink candles in holders on your altar. Place the rose quartz in between the two candle holders.
Encircle the two candle holders with the nine rose buds. Light the two candles and visualize yourself in a loving relationship with
the perfect mate. Continue this visualization as long as possible. Allow your candles to burn down completely. Keep one of the rose
buds and your rose quartz to carry with you in your purse or pocket to reinforce your magickal intention. Scatter the eight
remaining rose buds to the four corners of the wind, as an offering. Know that the Powers of the Universe are now working on your
behalf to manifest your desired result. Think no more of it. It is finished. So Mote It Be!!!

A
Favorite:Drawing
Down
The
Moon!!!

In this ritual the Goddess becomes incarnate in the HighPriestess. The High Priestess stands in front of the altar with her back to
it. She holds the wand in her right hand and the scrounge in her left. She crosses her wrists and crosses the wand and scrounge
above them while holding them close to her breast. The High Priest stands in front of her and says:
"Diana, queen of night
In all your beauty bright,
Shine on us here,
And with your silver beam
Unlock the gates of dream;
Rise bright and clear.
On Earth and sky and sea,
Your magic mystery
Its spell shall cast,
Wherever leaf may grow,
Wherever tide may flow,
Till all be past.
O secret queen of power,
At this enchanted hour
We ask your boon.
May fortune's favor fall
Upon true witches all,
O Lady Moon!"
The High Priest kneels before the High Priestess and gives herthe Five Fold Kiss; that is, he kisses her on both feet, both knees,
womb, both breasts, and the lips, starting with the right of each pair. He says, as he does this:
"Blessed be thy feet, that have brought thee in these ways. Blessed be thy knees, that shall kneel at the sacred
altar. Blessed be thy womb, without which we would not be. Blessed be thy breasts, formed in beauty. Blessed be
thy lips, that shall utter the Sacred Names."
For the kiss on the lips, they embrace, length to length, with their feet touching each others. When he reaches the womb, she
spreads her arms wide, and the same after the kiss on the lips. The High Priest kneels again and invokes: "I invoke thee and
call upon thee, Mighty Mother of us all, bringer of all fruitfulness; by seed and root, by bud and stem, by leaf
and flower and fruit, by life and love do I invoke thee to descend upon the body of this, thy servant and
priestess."
During this invocation he touches her with his right forefinger on her right breast, left breast, and womb, repeats the set and finally
the right breast. Still kneeling, he spreads his arms out and down, with the palms forward and says:
"Hail Aradia! From the Amalthean Horn
Pour forth thy store of love; I lowly bend
Before thee, I adore thee to the end,
With loving sacrifice thy shrine adore.
Thy foot is to my lip
(he kisses her right foot)
my prayer up borne
Upon the rising incense smoke; then spend
Thine ancient love, O Mighty One, descend
To aid me, who without thee am forlorn."
The High Priest stands up and steps backwards. The
HighPriestess draws the Invoking Pentagram of Earth in the air with the wand and says:
"Of the Mother darksome and divine
Mine the scrounge, and mine the kiss;
The five point star of love and bliss
Here I charge you in this sign."
The High Priestess should be in a trance now. This is a good time to do the Charge or the Witches' Creed.
When the Charge or Creed is finished, the Goddess must be dismissed. It is bad magical practice not to do so.
The High Priest faces the Priestess and says:
"We thank you Our Lady for attending our rites. We bid you farewell till next we call you. Blessed Be."

Set all the candles on the altar. Light the red pillar/taper and say this:
"I CALL TO THE ESSENCE OF REBIRTH PHOENIX FIREWIND, READY YOUR WOMB FOR I SHALL BE REBORN
IN LIGHT"
Light incense and say:
"I ASK THAT MY PRAYERS AND CALLS BE SENT TO
THE ETERNAL ONENESS OF THE SPIRIT OF DIVINITY" Go to the Eastern portal and kneel, saying this: "I ASK THAT
A CIRCLE BE CAST FORTH IN BLAZING LIGHT TO SET APART A SACRED SPACE THAT IS NEITHER HERE NOR
THERE
THAT I CAN USE TO WORSHIP THE OLD ONES."
Go back to the altar in the center remembering to always walk clockwise (deosil) in the circle. Take the white votive, light it with
the red candle called the *WORKING CANDLE* or W.C. for short, and carry to the east, hold it up and say
"I CALL TO THE ELEMENT OF THE WINDS
BE A PART OF THIS DEDICATION CIRCLE
IMPARTING YOUR WISDOM. SO MOTE IT BE."
Walk Deosil back to the altar, and light the Red or White votive with the W.C., and carry to the south, hold it up and say:
"I CALL TO THE ELEMENT OF THE FLAMES
BE A PART OF THIS DEDICATION CIRCLE
IMPARTING YOUR POWER. SO MOTE IT BE."
Walk Deosil back to the altar, and light the Blue or White votive with the W.C., and carry to the west, hold it up and say:

"I CALL TO THE ELEMENT OF THE SEAS

"I CALL TO THE ELEMENT OF THE STONES
BE A PART OF THIS DEDICATION CIRCLE
IMPARTING YOUR STABILITY. SO MOTE IT BE.
Walk Deosil around the circle once and
return to the East, hold up your hands and say: "I INVOKE AND CONJURE YE OH SIDHE (FAERYS) OF
THE EAST. SLYPHS AND SPRITES I SUMMON THEE.
COME TO THIS CIRCLE AND BE ONE IN MY RITES.

(Note - Sidhe is pronounced Shee)
Walk Deosil around the circle to the South,
hold up your hands and say:
"I INVOKE AND CONJURE YE OH SIDHE (FAERYS) OF THE SOUTH. SALAMANDERS AND DRACOS I SUMMON
THEE. COME TO THIS CIRCLE AND BE ONE IN MY RITES.

Walk Deosil around the circle to the West,
hold up your hands and say:
"I INVOKE AND CONJURE YE OH SIDHE (FAERYS) OF THE WEST. UNDINES AND MERLINGS I SUMMON
THEE. COME TO THIS CIRCLE AND BE ONE IN MY RITES." Walk Deosil around the circle to the North, hold up your
hands and say:
"I INVOKE AND CONJURE YE OH SIDHE (FAERYS) OF
THE NORTH. GNOMES AND BEAN TIGHES I SUMMON THEE. COME TO THIS CIRCLE AND BE ONE IN MY
RITES."
(note- Bean Tighe is pronounced BAN TEE-Gh)
Walk Deosil around the circle returning to
the Altar. If you are wearing a robe, or
any jewelry strip them off, and annoint
your chakaras, and the Wiccan 5 places
of power (feet, knees, genitals, breast, brow). As you annoint the 5 places say:
"Blessed be my feet, that walked to this place. Blessed be my knees that kneel to the Gods.
Blessed be my phallus/womb from which all life
springs.

Blessed be my breast/s strong and bold/nuturing and warm.

Blessed be my brow that I might know the Gods. Take the oil.. annoint your head with a celtic
cross

(an equilateral cross within a circle), your heart with the pentacle, and then your left breast,
genitals, and right breast forming the sacred triangle. Take the censer and cense around you and your hair,

and the sprinkle salt in your hair. At this point, if you wish, you may put back on your robe, and if you have jewelry, cense it, and
the put it
back on.
Light the White taper you have decided will be
the White taper of the God and kneel down.
Say:
"Oh Holy God, Sun King, Oak King, and Winter King. You are always within me. And my love is always yours. It
is to you my heart calls. And i ask
in your name, to be dedicated in the Craft.
Burn like this candle, ever within me, and know that I love you. So mote it be."
Kneel, squat, or sit down lotus/indian style and meditate to the God. In your meditation, view him and tell him how much you love
him.
Light the White taper you have decided will
be the White taper of the Goddess and kneel
down.
Say:
"Oh Holy Goddess, Maiden, Mother, and Crone.
You are forever my mother. And my love is
always yours. It is to you that i am born.
And i ask in your name to be dedicated into
the Craft.
Burn like this candle, ever within me, and know that I love you. So mote it be."
Kneel, squat, or sit down lotus/indian style and meditate to the Goddess. In your meditation view her, and tell her how much you
love her. Cut a bit your hair and put it in the censer, and while your hair burns cense the black cord. Wrap the black cord around
your waist. This
is your cingulum. Your Wiccan's Belt. Black
is the symbolic color of death and rebirth.
If you wish sing or dance. Or listen to
the rest of your tape. Some tapes I like
for dedication rituals include:
Gypsy's Enchantress
Lady Isadora's The Witching Hour
Lady Isadora's Queen of Earth & Sky
N'Chi's Songs of the Sheya
Reclaiming Community's Ritual Chants.
I also like the Golden Bough's The Boatmaster's Daughter, because it adds a very celtic energy to the circle. But only when I am
doing Celtic ritual. I wrote this so it could be used for most traditions.
