Band/Album Reviews

Angry, aggro, and crazed, KoRn's debut isn't just some of the most intence metal since Metallica's "Master of Puppets", it also has a confrontational vibe that Pantera tries (and fails) to achieve. Half a million fans would seem to agree: KoRn (Immortal/Epic) was recently certified gold, propelled by the hundreds of ferocious live shows played by this Bakersfield, CA band since their album's release in October, 1994. Call it "thrash", call it "punk", call it "alternitive" -- We call it KoRn, and its growing.

The main contender for Album of the Year, and already released quite a few months ago, but Korn is one release that deserves to be within everyone's grasp, and is the one to get if you're an infrequent music buyer. A bowel bending bass strung so low you fall to your knees, an emotional rollercoaster journey in vocals to make you wonder how you even made it this far without losing it; together with baleful bagpipes, a drumkit to seriously dig, and a guitar attack that cannot be held back... Controlled delivery - barely. From the same inspired pit as Faith No More, but a bit beyond. Not for the meek or moronic, or already confused.
