Mike's Review
Lights Out is the lovechild of 70s rock and light metal. These two styles are best represented (respectively) by the album's two most popular songs: "Too Hot To Handle" and "Lights Out." And although the album's other songs never get much attention, they're still good examples of this tasty blend. "Just Another Suicide" and "Gettin' Ready" are accessible, upbeat tunes that deserve to be given their own spots on rock radio. "Try Me" is an excellent piano-oriented ballad that also features strings and some great slower electric guitar soloing at the end. The song that really stands out is the close-to-eight minutes "Love To Love." It sums up the concept of the entire album quite well by combining softer and harder moments in an epic performance. For fans of both classic rock and hard rock, Lights Out nicely provides both.
Mike's Picks: Too Hot To Handle, Lights Out, Love To Love
