Floid Matrix is a power trio originally hailing from Fargo, ND, though its members are now spread between Minneapolis and St. Louis.

Their music is difficult to describe. “Floid Matrix has been described as ‘noise rock,” wrote the Minnesota State University-Moorhead Advocate. “That may be an accurate tag, but noise rock has never had this much emotion behind it. [They] offer assorted guitar noises with a superb rhythm section that at times seems to think as one…at times it is hard to believe that this is a local band and not a national act.”

Between 1996 and 1999, they played countless shows in Minneapolis, Fargo, and other regional cities. During this time, they performed with bands including Vaz, Seawhores, Modest Mouse, Sleater-Kinney, 90-day men, The Poster Children, Juno, and more. They additionally received heavy airplay on local college rock stations, and in 1998 released an album, “Stop the Technology Madness,” on Super Asbestos records.

In 1999, the band decided to take a break, and its members moved apart to places such as Seattle and London to pursue other interests including school and social work. They have all returned to the Midwest now, however, to finish what they started. A recent “first” show in Fargo went off without a hitch, drawing a capacity crowd and local press coverage. They will be touring in August of 2002.
