this lens is becoming dirty
covered it in dust and sin
i’ve focused on the wrong things
i’ve failed once again
i know i always will
no matter how hard i rub
the lens cannot be cleaned
but these tears He wept
they clean the surface
and all the insides
and now its spotless
i try to adjust it on my own
but i make it blurrier
only relying on Him
i can see clearly once again
i’m trying, long so hard
to set my heart to your sight
on things above
spread This love that even I can’t fully grasp
but You’ll show me
step by step: day by day
I learn your ways
i want to be where
You can come down any time
and I’d be honoring Your name
and that I would not become vain
not doing works for my own glory
for Yours and Yours alone
i am nothing in this existence
unless i’m serving You, O Lord
because You are my beginning, my end
You are my journey through life
my works are insignificant and meaningless
without You being my purpose for them
because it is my faith and obedience You desire
i want You to pour out of me
a river of life that is never-ending
and so I may live a life pleasing to You
and serve You forever....
