Love Never To Be

The wax still melts,
as the fire eats away,
the dark onyx on a backdrop of stars,
yet the color tends to fade,
a boy, not yet a man
wonders why it has to be
he can’t be with her, time is slow as eternity,
going into infinity.

He gazes out his window,
at the pale moonlit sky
and he still he wonders, ponders,
still not knowing why,
she can’t be there,
millions of miles away
thinking the same as him
she awakes to a new day.

She glances in the mirror,
seeing through herself, into her soul
without him she is lost
another lost empty soul
she imagines him standing behind her in the mirror,
arms wrapped around her waist,
his chin resting on her shoulder
then he vanishes,
she snaps into reality
she weeps, she cries
she cant keep putting on the disguise in her mind

Hiding the lie
frowning on the inside
she wants to be with him
he wants to be with her
but it cant occur
the court of their love is adjourned
their voices to each other never heard
yet their love so mutual,
they concur, they concur
their love so pure

They just want each other
is that so much?
to see each other faces
feel each other’s touch
its a tragedy, a travesty
that this love be denied
never even a try
and we’ll never know why.
