He feels the tension
as he walks into the classroom
his friends wave at him
he does what he has to do
he knows something, that the other don’t
but he cant tell them
he just won’t tell them
no matter how hard he tries
he’s too embarassed to say.
he knows exactly what to do
and exactly how to do it
but he never follows through
he never follows through
He knows exactly what to say
and exactly how to say it
but he give into pressure
and now he feels so sedated
he stumbles home in his state
not really thinking about what he’s done
he does’nt try to fight it
he just knows how to run, from it
but he cant escape the pressure
strapping him into life’s seat
he just decides to do what his friends do
and forgets he’s in defeat
Now, he’s getting the kids ready
shortly after one of the frequent fights with his wife
he loves his family
but inside he knows
everything’s not quite alright
even though the pressure’s gone
the lifestyle stuck with him
he hates his job,
but goes because of the money,
and doesn’t spend the time he needs to with his own family
and he wants to change
yet he doesn’t know how
its been too long since he’s been fed
and he’s weak from starvation of the soul
and wonders how his got this way
another life misguided
and so he’s never quite whole
Now he sits in a nursing home,
waiting for his children to someday visit him
looks at a picture of his wife
who has passed on before him,
he begins to think back to his youth
as he often does
and remembers church, and the God’s sacrifice,
how he knew everything it had to offer
but didn’t take it,
his mind knew it all
but his heart was ignorant to everything
and realizes how different things could be,
now you see, someone who truly knew it all
yet had nothing at all
because he didn’t believe
its up to you, its up to me
to avoid one life’ s greatest tragedies
the waste of one’s own life
when you could have so much more
don’t follow the others
make your own path
you can’t know all the facts
and know all the methods
but until you put it to use and believe it
its just another life in the crowd
