Left to right: Battlesnake are 'Mad' Eric Harris (Lead Guitars), Tony El Chino(Vocals, Bass), Frank Francis(Drums) and Dirk Wasp(lead Guitars).

Battlesnake are the biggest thing to happen to heavy metal in years. Coming from Wigan, Battlesnake are set to take the world by storm. Their Influences include Iron Maiden, Metallica, Motorhead, Slayer and Megadeth. Despite the mockery that surrounds the band such as being reffered to as 'the Shit on the shoes of metal'' the band continue to rock out their kick ass metal tunes. Tony El Chino, the bands Vocalist and frontman was quoted as saying "We don't give a fuck what people think about us, we've been doing this for years. Its all we believe in and when the shit hits the fan we'll still be standing here like warriors, Heavy Metal Warriors". Battlesnake recently received the following review from a local music column .

The new single from Battlesnake "Hell Aint So Bad !!!"

ROCK MUSIC SCENE - FEB 2001:

New Wigan heavy metal band 'BATTLESNAKE' are more than just a clever name. Using a witty pun on the snake concept which also incorporates their interest in war and destruction ( regular themes in their music) Battlesnake truly are a class apart. Their new single 'Hell ain't so bad' could almost be an autobiography of the bands struggle for the heavy metal cause. After 'Mad' Eric Harris's motorcycle accident the band nearly split:

Mad Eric spoke to us: 'My motorcycle accident nearly split the band. Although I wasn't actually on a motorcycle I reversed my Austin Allegro into one that was parked up outside my house. I don't actually own a motorcyle, well none of us do, Dirk told me to say that, I don't know why. I've had the Allegro for years'.

Since this the band has seen Frank Francis walk out when the band asked him to shorten his 15 minute drum solo, Tony El Chino being pulled in for dole fraud and Dirk Wasp (real name Derek Grindley ) arrested for 'interfering with a goat'. But these are only minor setbacks for the metal giants that Battlesnake will inevitably become. The new single also includes the classic B-side 'Motorbikes And Madness' which shows Mad Eric and Dirk Wasp shredding at their best playing 3 screaming guitar solos each throughout the 4 minute piece. Tony El Chinos throbbing bass lines and hellish lyrics reflect the struggle that was his life growing up in a back street Wigan Kebab house where only the dream of 'hitting the highway' on his Harley Davidson kept him going. This single is hotter than El Chino's chilli sauce. 7/10.
