System of a Downs first album, System of a Down, is the start of what has become one of the most unique and interesting bands to-date on the rock scene. Which a mix of chunky and melodic riffs and beats, it provides a balance that is rarely seen with the newer "one-song" bands of today. Not that I'm trying to make them seem old. They are still making albums to this date. But more about the album.
System of a Down starts off with a punk-ish sounding intro that quickly turns into the harder guitar driven music that is featured on the rest of the album. Most of the songs are political, or at least seem to be. Their future albums seem to have a bit more confusing lyrics to them. Luckly, if you own the actual album, the band gives explinations to some of the songs along with the lyrics.
The music is melodic and hard, the lyrics are poetic and well-written, the whole album radiates the band's personality as well. It truly is a beautiful work of art. Though I'm sure 'beautiful' is an odd word to use as a descriptive term.
