This is the story of ZeroSynthetic, from the very very beginning to now.

ZeroSynthetic has changed much in its short existence. In its origin, the band was not really a band; it was the dream of four friends. Matt, Paul, Nick, and Ben formed the band Snerpy in the fall of 2000. Matt was a guitarist with almost five years of experience, but the other three had no musical inclinations at all. Paul was designated to be the drummer, Nick the bassist, and Ben the vocalist. This proved unstable, however, as Paul and Nick switched instruments and Paul made the commitment by getting a bass. Tension mounted, as young Ben wanted to play the guitar as well. And the chance of Nick getting a drum set? Ha ha, yeah right.

Snerpy took a turn for the better later that year, when Jason came into the picture. Under his influence, the band began to gain some real promise; and quickly after it set in, they changed their name to Captain Wafer and the Salteens and later the Neutered Alien Monkeys. By this time, it was finally being realized that brothers Nick and Ben had no place in the band, and they simply faded out of the musical picture but stayed close friends with Matt, Paul, and Jason.

A major crisis of the band up to this point had been lyrics. Nobody in the band wanted to write them, and nobody thought anybody else in the band could write them. Matt had written several pieces for guitar for use with the band, and they were even titled, but there were just no lyrics on the horizon. But at this point the band had not made its mind up to be a Christian band; it was just to be a pop band. Finally in the latter months of 2000, Matt felt inspiration hit and began writing lyrics that dealt with Christian topics but not Christianity specifically. However, he soon gave in to the call of the Lord and began a long stint as a spiritual, Christian lyricist.

The band went through another name change; this time, Twitch was born, a name that would stick for quite a while. The Christmas of 2000 saw the birth of Jason as a guitarist. Paul had been taking lessons and improving much at bass. A friend of Jason and Matt, Aaron (who was already the drummer for Christian punk band Likeminded), had offered to fill in if they ever needed him on drums. The band was becoming a reality.

2001 saw Matt explode lyrically; up to this point, he had only written six songs. In the following two months, he would pen another five. The month of March saw tremendous growth for the band; Matt would write lyrics to thirteen songs, and Jason would contribute two, bringing the lyrical total at the end of March to 29 (two having been previously contributed by Aaron). (The numbers don’t add up because some songs were not dated when written, so they cannot be put in a timeframe…the point is, there were 29 at the end of March.) And March 19 saw a mammoth event; Twitch became ZeroSynthetic. The change was mainly because Twitch had no significance, whereas ZeroSynthetic meant “not manmade”, in other words creations of God, not man. In April and May the band would continue their flourishing lyrical output; Aaron would give the band another song, Jason would author four and a half, and Matt would be inspired to write 35 1/2. (The halves come from the song written jointly by Jason and Matt.)

Band practice attempts occured much in June, although little ever got done. The band did make progress however. 21 more songs were authored, 19 by Matt and two by Jason. The summer month July brought not much accomplishment other than 18 more lyrics, one by Jason and 17 by Matt.

Despite Jason's college classes and Matt's senior year of homeschool high school starting, August saw more band practices than any other month so far! ZeroSynthetic appears to be gaining enthusiasm...and rightly so. Not only is band practice happening, it's showing effectiveness. Each member has improved individually, and the band as a whole has very much tightened its sound. Practicing songs from their future debut album "Cross-Eyed" in random order, the band gets right to business with Jason sitting in front of a computer to sing the lyrics while Matt and Paul stand around and...well...play their instruments. The band shows special promise on four songs in particular and are working on the rest. Also, 13 more songs got written, all through Matt.

September wasn't as productive as August was, but the band is still continuing to take great strides. Nineteen more songs were pumped out through Matt, and that's not all the music obsessor did...this always-experimenting guitarist recorded a solo album called "Tragedy Of Eve", which is a progressive chaotic melodic black death metalcore album. This eight-song, sixty-minute cassette has been acclaimed by most of the band members and their friends as quite an album. Band photos were finally shot after almost three months of procrastination, so look for those on the site soon (if not now, depending on when you're reading this). The band has no reason to slow down in October...and there's talk spreading of a possible EP within the coming months!

Well it is now February and we just now had an actual full-membered band practice (for the first time in months) on the 12th. It was at Matt's birthday party. We had been on a musical hiatus from October through the month of January. Now that doesn't mean we are lazy...well...yes it does but that is besides the point because we are back. We now have at least a strong 3 song set (possibly 4 if needed) Matt and Jason have decided to have band practice every tuesday and thursday night barring any unforseen problems along the way. Jason started his new job at the Branch (a Christian Bookstore) in January so it has been real stressful; plus college started back up for him in January. Matt and Paul are both still working their ways through school as well. We hope to have something to show in the next few months but things are scheduled to change.

Well guess what everyone?! ZeroSynthetic had our first live show this past Saturday (March 16th) as part of a Rock For Life concert ^_^ It went awesome!! Everyone was either crowd surfing, moshing or head-banging. Everyone that we have talked said we were awesome and we haven't received any negative comments at all. Paul, unfortunately, was not able to make it to the performance. Matt and Jason both missed him and wanted him to be a part of the first ZeroSynthetic show but we are sure that Paul will be included in many more live shows to come ^_^ Aaron has now agreed to be our full-time drummer! ZeroSynthetic has only been looking for a full-time drummer for the past year and a half. ZeroSynthetic's whole outlook as a band has changed tremendously in the past couple of days so look for some bigger and better things to come in the following months.

The band ZeroSynthetic has found a strong core of members…and a name that, we hope, will not change again. ^_^
