We are what are known as the HD Warriors in the Chatham-Kent area of Ontario, Canada.

Let me tell you a bit about myself-
My name is Dave, and I have been involved with the Huntington Society of Canada since my wife Donna was diagnosed with Huntington Disease in 1997.I am 41 years old . We have a very cute little dog, Brandy. She is an 9 year old Beagle and Jack Russel mix.Brandy has passed away and is very missed little dog-she was a Very active and very spoiled little girl. We have a 7 year old Cockatiel bird, KO-KO. He is yellow and white, with a bit of grey on the wings. Donna and I have been married since June 1989.She was diagnosed just a couple of days after our 8th anniversary.

Since then, my sister in law Brenda and myself have evolved to become area reps for this area, and are active in the community spreading the word of HD, and doing a unique fundraiser, the Trapshoot for Huntington Disease, held at the Kent Cloverleaf Conservation Club. More on that to come.

We have met some very good people in the capacity of being area representatives.Over the last 12 years of involvement with the "Trapshoot for Huntington", and being in the community, we have met with our local MPP, Mayor, media from CKCO TV, as well as local radio CKSY, CFCO, and CKUE. We have also been on channel 4 in Detroit (NBC affiliate),WDIV

As of 2000, Brenda and her husband Vaughn accepted an award of excellence on behalf of the Chatham group in Milestone For Communication during the annual conference of the Huntington Society of Canada.

As of November, 2002, the Huntington Society has bestowed upon me, the Queen's Golden Jubilee award, for volunteer in my community. A very nice award, indeed, and not done without the help of all people involved in the HD community in our area, and for that I am grateful.

In 2006, we again have recieved the Milestone for Communication for the year of 2005.

We started the Annual "Trapshoot for Huntington Disease" in 1998.In the 12 years, we have totalled over $95,000 toward the fight against HD. It is a one of a kind fundraiser for the Huntington Society in Canada, and as far as I know, the only one in North America at this time.
This will be changing, however. We do have quite an interest from other Huntington groups who want to do this. It promotes the cause , and also importantly to me, promotes safe shooting, as well as informing the public that firearms are NOT a terrible thing in our society of "political correctness". I will leave that, at that.
