Semper FidelisDear beloved Brothers and Sisters In Christ, I write this on May 27th, Memorial day, roughly nineteen more hours before my departure for the Marine Corps Boot Camp. The dawn of the upcoming experience leaves me at a humble state to examine my walk in the Lord and in seeking His strength rather than my weak efforts in the flesh. It has also humbled me to thank the Lord for the encouragement He has given through godly fellowships the last couple of days and His Peace He has provided for my soul. I must give praises to the Lord. I have for some time strongly believed in the ideal that it is not necessarily inconsistent to serve in the priorities of the following order: GOD, COUNTRY, CORPS. Whether that is a concept I can live up too leaves me worried so many times. The warning from scriptures: "So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall!"(1Corinthians 10:12) is something I have a fright thinking about. It is a desire of mine to be more than a godly testimony in boot camp but to be able to do the work of an evangelist. Many of you would be reading this letter long after this letter have been posted up on my site but I still plead with you to pray for me and write to me if you are able to obtain my boot camp address.
"That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weakness, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong." (2Corinthians 12:10) By the will of God and His grace may He see to it that I would live up to the Marine Corps motto: SEMPER FIDELIS (ALWAYS FAITH), Jimmy Li [Last edited June 16, 2002] |
