- Fast forward to '98 | Band note by Frankie Sullivan
Retyped from Survivormusic.com"Just A Bit of Info..." 13-Nov-98
I have returned from Los Angeles and my 10-day trip up north for some R&R. Boy, I actually forgot what it was like to get away from everything. I was quickly reminded when I returned. I actually did not log on to the site at all. Imagine that - my life Internet Free!
I checked out The Bullet Board and wanted to say a few things:
The reality is that we are hard at work on what will be the next Survivor Record. The material is as you guys would demand - the best we can deliver. While we have played a bit of it during the shows this summer, there is more. Survivor is not interested in a label that cannot deliver as far as distribution. I cannot mention names as there are a few of the labels that are friends, but signing with a company who believes that selling 25,000 records is great is not for us. For now, we strongly feel we have not explored all of our options, and for very good reasons.
Look, I know it is frustrating for you all of you guys. We know you are a great bunch of people who support and believe in us tremendously. However, this can never be about beating anyone or anything to the punch. It must always be about music and the creative process, without those kinds of limits attached. We want to deliver a record that is at the top of our game. We want to gvie you the best damn work we are capable of delivering. That is why we do this. Otherwise, why bother.
To inform you more, we are always working to attain our goals. I never stop writing and Survivor is always on my mind while doing so. One of my problems with producing and writing for another artists is I constantly edit the material and play the Survivor Card very close to my chest. When I write a song I think would be great for Survivor, they don't get to hear it. It goes into the vault of yet to be recorded material for the band. This is where it remains until it is determined if it is good or not for Survivor.Ok, I really hope that I have shed some light and understanding on the subject. Nothing would make me happier than to know that I have struck a chord of understanding in all of you. We are well aware of the time and other needs and we are tending too all of them the best we can.
Lastly, this has nothing to do with perfection. Personally, I go for the performance over perfection, and all of the time.As for the rest of it, it's like Joe Perry says --
