Kirk Lee Hammett
Kirk
was born in USA in 1963. Kirk is married, but he have no kids.
Kirk joined Metallica in 1983. James and Lars had been on a gig with his former band Exodus. They thought he was so good that they rang to him him and asked him if he would join them, and since this was April the first, he thought he was kidding, so he said yes. A few days later when they contacted him again, he got a shock!!!
Kirk
grew up in the Bay area town of El Sobrante and began playing guitar at the age
of 15. When he got a guitar called Flying V, he started to jam with other people.
This led to a new problem; money! To get money he worked on Burger King for a
while. He then bought a Marshall amplifier.
About that time he co-founded
Exodus with Paul Baloff. 
They were support act for Metallica twice; November 29,
1982 and March 5, 1983.
