Sight Unseen
I want to whisper into your deaf ears,
"Never doubt I am the one who would have Loved you."
"Never doubt I would have given you all I have."
I want to look into your unseeing eyes and show you
That I stood on the edge
Staring into the short term infinity of my life
and you pulled me back
Just before I was willing to give each day to you.
I was ready to Love
To be the one to encourage you
To lift you up into God's hands
To remind you that He is faithful and you have faith
To kiss you gently and dry your tears
To be the one who held you
Second only to God
But you turned away
After laying bricks in the wall between that future and us.
So now and then I wonder if someday you might see beyond that wall
and miss who I almost was
or
if I might someday thank you
for each brick you lay.
