June 30th, 2001
Well, its been quite a while I know...not much has been going on, and for the last week or so we didn't have a computer. So the latest updates...
I finally got my new guitar, and its one hell of a guitar. The Gibson Special Series Gothic Edition SG. The all-black one with the satin finish, ebony fretboard, Alnico-magnet open humbuckers, the star and crescent moon at the 12th fret...THAT one. Along with that I got myself a filter box and a pedal board to loop and put the pedals on. That's all I got, awesome stuff. As for the band, we're changing some stuff around. When the band started we didn't hvae a bass player....I recently bought a bass just to screw around with...next practice there I was playing bass. I wanted to play guitar...bass is awesome, I still play it, but I'd rather be up there with the guitar. Well, now I can do that, as we'er changing stuff. John will switch from keyboards to bass. He just started bass, but that's what he wants to do. We introduce to you Paul Angelini as our new keyboardist. If 37th Parallel never had any real musical talent, now it does...Paul's level 6 NYSSMA on piano, and he plays sax too. I never heard anyone play Smells Like Teen Spirit on a grand piano before. So Tom will keep drumming, Paul will take keyboards, John will take bass, I will switch to lead guitar, and Dan will stay with guitar, but more as a backup. Dan still does main vocals, as I provide backup and the third mic we toss to whoever. This isn't in members yet because we didn't get a chance to update it. Pics will be coming along with other stuff. So that's that. As for tourdates, 37th Parallel will continue its quest to find small venues locally such as parties and fun nights at the youth center and what not. But on August 24th, we move up in the world. At Cedar Beach, they gave us a Friday night, a stage, electricity, lights, and advertising. That will be our first show...the Talent Show was the first performance, but its not considered a show because it was only one song. We'll have a 30-45 minute set at Cedar Beach. An agreement states that this is a "Safe Summer" program. This means no drugs, alcohol, cursing, swearing, political hate talk, smashing, throwing, stage-diving, crowdsurfing, moshing (or as they called it, "dangerous dancing") or anything of the like. Drugs and alcohol...that's the venue's job not mine. As for the rest on the list...I guess there's a price to pay to get performances like these at the level we're at. Sorry to those hard-rockers, save it for when we hit the big places. But hey, its still a concert, we still get to do a show in front of a bunch of people, make some noise, express ourselves...that's awesome in itself. Go see us, it should be interesting. More entries to come hopefully...it should be an interesting summer as we have less than 2 months to prepare for our show, and we only have 4 origional songs as of now. This summer will rock like none before!
