Super Furry Animals lyrics - Fragile Happiness Fragile Happiness

Well that fragile happiness
Keeps me from forgetting
That this fragile happiness
Keeps me afloat when I'm sinking

The first generation
Caused such a sensation
Gave all an elation
For I'm in Deep Space Nine
Hitting wormholes all of the time

But that fragile happiness
Stops the nightmares when I'm sleeping
And where Catholics confess
From my guilt there's no escaping

We'll go to Miami
Take old friends and family
We'll stay out and party
Does Will Smith lie?
Does he ever cave in and cry?

Quote (Gruff on ringsaroundtheworld.co.uk):
"This has the simplest lyrics on the album. It's a short, slow song, again with Bunf on pedal steel. We got Martin McCarthy, who is a friend from Cardiff, to do the film. He originally wanted to build icebergs out of old fridges and float them down the Taff and film it. Eventually he got computer graphics to aid him. It's a very nice metaphor to end the film – icebergs floating along, gradually melting. It's the simplest video and the simplest song and maybe the most powerful."

DVD director:
Martin McCarthy - This track was made into eight different film versions before two were chosen to go onto the disc, one in the album section and one in 'More Films'. However, the other six are in hiding on the DVD. Martin McCarthy's films use a combination of live footage and CGI. It's about a family of icebergs floating on a black sea. In the first film the icebergs are pure white and it's very easy to get lost in the serenity of them passing us by. In the second film version the icebergs are more real, inside we can see people frozen within. The other versions include a wire frame render, a trip down the River Taff past the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff and one with just the iceberg reflecting on black. Martin McCarthy was born in Belfast 1965. He has been a filmmaker for the past sixteen years producing drama, documentary, music video and art in many parts of the world. He now lives in Cardiff, Wales with his wife Ffion and children Niamh and Non.
