ACE FREHLEY

Ace Frehley was born Paul Daniel Frehley on April 27, 1951 in Brooklyn, NY. He moved to the the Bronx shortly there after. Paul was later nicknamed Ace for his expertise in getting the guys dates. His friends would call him an "Ace". His excellent match making skills earned him the nickname Ace. Ace picked up the guitar at age 13, where the first song he ever learned was "Mrs. Brown, You've Got a Lovely Daughter" by Herman's Hermits. Ace sites Pete Townsend as his favorite guitar player, but lists The Who, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and The Ventures as major influences. Ace met his wife,Jeanette, in 1970 at the age of nineteen. They would later have a child, Monique. Monique is now nineteen. After an altercation in a bar, Ace suffered severe injuries to his face and had to have reconstructive surgery. Ace's first experience in the music business was a band he joined called Millemo, which recorded a few songs for RCA but was never released in the early seventies. After seeing an ad which read, "Guitarist wanted with flash and balls" Ace auditions for KISS. He enters the room with one red sneaker and one orange sneaker. He bolted into the room and plugged in and played at the same time another was auditioning. Ace played over top of him. He was almost thrown out by the band. Ace jammed with the boys on "Deuce" and the rest is what we would say is "Kisstory". Ace played with KISS from 1973-1982. He left the band shortly after the recording of Creatures Of The Night for a solo career. Ace did not play one single note on that album, eventhough he appears on the cover. Ace went on to record a few solo albums from 1987-1989. He toured many clubs throughout the nineties. After a taping of the Unplugged show, Ace rejoined KISS in 1996 for the greatly successful Reunion Tour. In preparation for the Reunion Tour, Ace worked out with a personal trainer, and also had some plastic surgery on his face. He is best known to the fans for his unique attitude and mannerisms. With his legendary drinking binges to glueing the furniture in his hotel room to the cieling, Ace is a character. According to long time friend, John Regan,"In a world full of copies, he remains an original." Ace is currently playing guitar for KISS.
