Fund Raising Initiative

One of our whanau sent us an email regarding a fund raising suggestion which the komiti thought was an excellent idea. The letter was sent by Sonny Rata who we met and asked if could reprint part of his letter for the newsletter which he was agreeable to.

Sonny lives in Palmerston North and has a strong affiliation to the Kia Ora Rugby League club. Sonny married Josephine Mahara Wallace and her parents were Hare Hare Hatete Wallace and Lilian Ruth Royal.

In part Sonny letter says ………..

“We were thrilled to get the newsletter in May. The first one for years. I said to my daughter Joanne that I am going to my bank to get a monthly deduction for a small koha to our marae. Sonny’s idea was to have $10.00 a month deducted from my bank account without fail for the rest of my life. I won’t miss it because it is so small but when you multiply this many times over it could be a good fund raiser”

Sonny suggested name for this was

“NO PAIN KOHA” To me even though I am a beneficiary it is a No Pain way of contributing towards the upkeep of the marae. Best of All I don’t have to do anymore just sit back and feel happy that I am doing something”

The komiti has set up a special bank account called the “No Pain Koha” for others who may feel the same as Sonny. The ANZ Bank account details are

01-0666-0024615-50

This account will be used for projects that will enhance the maintenance of the marae. We will report on the progress of how this account is being used. People who contribute to this account may also want to make suggestions on how it can be used to improve the marae.  Many of our whanau who live away from the area may also see this as an opportunity to support the marae activities. If you have any queries please contact us via our wehiwehi2000@hotmail.com email account.
