U.S. SPECIAL FORCES MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTIES

Each man in a Special Forces unit is crossed trained to a degree in the skills and equipment they might have to call on to save the life of a team member, themselves and to complete their mission. Special Forces also have their own unique specialty skills and here is where you can review the choices open. Please note that command reserves the right to deny a request for a particular MOS if there is a over abundance of specialists in that position, or if the Special Forces Platoon requires a particular specialty be filled

Which of the specialties that I am good at can I get better at?
And last but not least. Which of these remaining specialties will I have the most fun playing in a team?
Remember your choice is an important one as you will be filling a vital role in all actions. Your fellow Special Forces members and the success of the mission will depend on your level of skill and commitment to your chosen specialty.
The MOS Listings:
Special
Forces Platoon Leader: The
most demanding and respected specialty available. Individuals choosing this MOS
are not only responsible for themselves but also the individual training and
behavior of those men in their Platoons. Leaders must be just that. They must be
prepared to be online much more often then others, conduct recruiting of quality
individuals, inform officers of changes, problems, or outstanding performances
of their men. Leaders start with a higher rank but are required to do much more
then any other MOS available. Leaders must constantly maintain a level of
excellence both in ability and activity or be demoted. Leaders conduct
activities as a Rifleman.
Special
Forces Platoon Sgt.:
The second most
demanding specialty is that of Platoon Sgt. Those who choose this position must
be prepared to work hard and get little in return for it. Sgt.'s do the brunt of
the dirty work required by their Platoon leaders and assist them in all areas of
the Platoons training and upkeep. They are also required to be more active and
reliable then the regular Platoon member. Platoon Sgt.'s start with a higher
rank but must maintain their levels of activity and good conduct or be in danger
of losing their positions. Sgt.'s may be of any weapons specialty.
The
Special Forces Sniper: Snipers,
you either love them or hate them. But one thing is certain. A Special Forces
sniper is a one man killing machine. Those who choose this specialty must be
Expert Marksmen with all manner of Sniper rifles. They must know when a
particular weapon is needed for a mission as well as understand their tactical
role in the Platoon as a whole during training and DMA's. Individuals must prove
their skill in this area before being given the acclaimed Sniper name. In
addition, periodic testing of shooting prowess will be given to assure skills do
not diminish. Those who choose this specialty use the Sniper weapons specialty.
No individual is more feared in combat than these men.
The
Special Forces Support specialist: The
Support Specialist is the workhorse of any Platoon. This is the man
with the firepower. Support specialists train and are experts in
Heavy Machineguns, Mortars and other support weapons. Individuals in this MOS
must know when it is best to use suppressive fire skills over direct fire. In
addition they must know when extra ammunition is required as opposed to a
secondary weapon. Most of all, as with all MOS positions, the Support Specialist
must understand the key role he plays in any unit action. Individuals who choose
this MOS should be ready to spend a great deal of time in becoming as accurate
as possible with the weapons available. Individuals who choose this MOS use the
Support weapon specialty.
The
Special Forces Spotter: The

member. Spotters usually have the task of recon work ahead of the Sniper or
Support member, keeping in constant communication and relaying the positions of
potential targets of opportunity. Spotters can also act as the eyes for
Mortar teams or other support units. Spotters must develop a good relationship
with the individual they are teamed with to ensure that they can together be as
lethal as possible. Most Spotters are Riflemen and carry binoculars as part of
their standard kit.
The
Special Forces Rifleman: The
Special Forces Rifleman is the core of the Special Forces. These are the famed
Green Berets. Swift, silent and deadly. They are experts at small unit tactics,
weapons of the world, infiltration, search and destroy, hostage rescue, counter
terrorist activity and on and on. They are nearly unmatched in all the
world in weapons proficiency and combat related skills. Individuals
