MARTIN FLANNERY:
We always considered Flan one of our good mates, a real sharp mod in the early days spending hundreds on clothes, more than his scooters but prioritys lie with the owners. Flan spent most of his career in England and was present in the London mod scene long before most of us thought about moving in the early 80's. Martin drove a J range Lambretta and Rally 200 and a px 125 that he turned up on one day at an early Salthill rally. Flan was lucky to be still with us after a bad accident on the way home from the Fanore rally in which a blowout ended up with the aforesaid Flan ending up in intensive care with fairly severe head injuries, luckily Martin made a full recovery. Flan drifted out of the scooter scene and into the GOTH scene, but he always was a big David Bowie fan - I forgot to mention Flan hailed from Bunratty.
The last we heard of Martin was that he was travelling around Asia.
