Definitions of Community Development Terms

The Basic Issue

A friend of my wife's had an anecdote of how they were taught to remember the spelling of assume..."When you assume things, you are liable to make an ass out of you and me". So it is with the definitions of terms in studying an elusive subject like "Rural community development". People hold widely differing understandings of all three of these terms , and the spread between these understandings is broadening.

The Definition of these three terms is central to the understanding of aspects of rural community development. As these terms interact with each other, any duplicated resources referred to are annotated to indicate the relevance of the resource to that particular term.
