In the view of _____[] Analysis is the step which drives the research process, once a research question has been identified, and the plan approved. Any data collected which cannot be analyzed in such a way as to give meaningful information in relation to the research question is useless. Any analysis of data which fails to take into account the peculiarities of a given research context or extraneous factors, is of questionable worth. Researchers must know not only how to collect appropriate data, but must be able to analyze it appropriately, and draw from such an analysis an appropriate and substantiated set of interpretations and conclusions. One problem with computerized data analysis of both a quantitative and a qualitative nature is that the machinery becomes too big for the researcher's comprehension. When this happens, the researcher is liable to draw erroneous conclusions from the analysis and make erroneous interpretations.
Even if the analysis and interpretation are correct, they must relate back to the original purposes for he research. The interpretations and information must answer any and all of the research questions for the person, organization or community requesting it, in order that the actions to be based on such results might be able to move forward. It is essential not to lose sight of the objectives of the research, especially amidst the complexities of this stage of he research.
Once the research project has been executed and interpreted, it must be written up and presented to the person, organization or community requesting the information. It must accurately "re-present" the people, information or things which were being studied, and do so in a way that responds to the various research questions.
When the results are presented to the persons needing the answers, the research process moves into the phase where the research and action steps interface. Actions and decisions which are taken are to be based on the research gathered and presented. Quality actions and quality research depend on each other for quality of life which both are designed to enhance.
