As a high school student, Matt Cardoza, founder of MCRD, faced tragedy at the loss of his 91 Integra LS. With his hopes and dreams of the LS torn apart, he moved on with school at the thought of possibly never realizing his dream of racing until much later in life. As luck would have it shortly after his tragic loss, Matt was able to get back on his feet and search for a new car. While his friends continued to modify their cars, Matt's efforts went towards finding what is now Alpha Project. He was able to find a near mint Cypress Green Pearl Metallic 1996 Acura Integra GS-R. Little did he know that the heart of this GS-R would be one that would set him apart from the amateurs. The engine, although common, would grow uniquely powerful and different from the average B18C. With the positive influence of his brother-in-law and his parents, Matt overcame the popular temptation to waste his money on aesthetic modifications. Rather, from the beginning, he knew that his destiny would be discovered only on the track. With this destiny in sight, Matt set forth and began Alpha Project. It started as only a cold-air intake and some springs. Although his friend's still playfully mocked his decision to avoid visual improvements to the car, it is obvious now that Matt had a much different goal in mind than looks. Today, Matt's focus is clear, and his goals are insight. With his friends by his side, he has become a popular and well-respected presence among street racers. His reputation as an all motor enthusiasts only continues to spread good word as he takes out more and more swaps and hybrids. Even lightly modified 300ZX TTs don't hold a chance anymore. With modesty in mind, Matt has shown that racing development not only involves research and hard work, but sportsmanship and integrity. As Alpha Project makes it way, Matt has already thought about a Beta Project. Alpha's potential will never be fully realized unless the street-legal modifications are removed and replaced with drag strip parts. That is why Beta Project will eventually replace Alpha Project on the streets. Together with the support of members from teams like XS, Jetspeed, Macross7, PTR, ZRP, and more, Matt is only getting started. Look for Matt Cardoza Racing Development and Alpha Project. Don't be afraid to say what's up to Matt too. He's a nice guy. (As a side note for all the myth and mystery spreading the streets these days, Matt *does not* squeeze nitrous oxide. MCRD is about building all-motor cars. Nitrous is just too easy.)
