PEOPLE TO PEOPLE......The letters page

This is your opportunity to have your say about the station and the needs of your community. Are we offering you enough as a community radio station and if not what else can we provide.

Send us your views an opinions of this local community station and we will publish them here in this column so that the rest of the 3 Counties can have a chance to read them and respond if necessary. Is there an item of news that you feel strongly about and would like to emphasise this in your column? Do you know anyone who you feel has achieved something that everyone should be proud of, or is there an event that will affect us that we are not aware of?

The best item that we receive will be given a Millennium FM token of appreciation certificate and a £20 record voucher.

Don't waste any more time, just write to us and see if we can help further by making the station purpose built to suit your needs. Or watch out for the roving reporters who will be asking questions in and around the 3 Counties to get your response LIVE. These will then not only be published in the next edition of the magazine but also broadcast to the listeners during an appropriate show.

If you have the appropriate technology then why not e-mail the editor at this address:

Hiya all at Millennium,

I have been listening to your pirate radio station since it began in the summer of 1999, and I have some comments that I would like the readers of your new radios station magazine to take on board and reply to if needs be. Firstly the reception where I live was not very good and I could only pick up the station on my small clock radio next to my bed, but my Hi-Fi system in the front room could not pick it up. Nevertheless I still tuned in and found the station most enjoyable, especially the fact that the station catered for a wide variety of music that was not being played by any other radio station in the area. I am fond of Calypso and Soca and was pleasantly surprised by the appearance of DJ Ice Man when the station came back on air after the Christmas break. He is from my native country and I enjoy hearing a different dialect on the radio presenting our native music. My main criticism has got to be your reception; when are you going to sort it out?? I must confess that sometimes it is so bad that I have no choice but to switch to the other pirate station called JAM on 99.4FM, whose reception is crystal clear, but unfortunately they do not have a dedicated soca/ calypso show.

From what I can hear the presenters do all sound very professional especially Greg-D who gets me up with a smile on Saturday mornings. Being a God-fearing church goer, I am not pleased when I hear swearing on certain records and would request that the management try to curb these selected shows to later hours, preferably after 10:00pm.

Overall, a good quality station that deserves the right to broadcast but you all have got to get that reception sorted out otherwise you will quickly lose your listeners, regardless.

Yours and still listening

Mr M. Jeffries

Ed.(reply) - Many thanks for your letter, and as you may have read elsewhere, many of these problems have now been solved. (Click here if you haven't). Mr Jeffries wins himself the first token of appreciation certificate from the station and a £20 record voucher.
