THE PIRATES...are currently 64-88 and 26.0 games out of first place (were 75-77 and 17.0 games out after 152 games last year)...Just completed a three-game sweep of the Phillies at Veterans Stadium...Snapped a season-high nine-game losing streak with their victory Monday night...Won a season-high eight in a row prior to the nine-game skid...Were a season-low 27 games under .500 following their loss on Sunday (61-88)...Were at the .500 level just once (at 2-2 on
4/7)...Have gone 16-29-4 in series thus far with five sweeps...Went 9-15 during the month of April, 14-13 in May, 11-16 in June, 11-14 in July and 8-21 in August...Have gone 11-9 thus far in September...Went 38-48 before the All-Star break and have gone 26-40 since...Are hitting .266
(363-for-1364) with runners in scoring position.

PINCHING IN: Bucco pinch hitters have a seven-game hitting streak...In
that time, the group has gone 9-for-13 (.692) with a homer and four RBI...Last night ADAM HYZDU hit the club's seventh pinch-hit home run of
the season - the club record is 10 set in 1996.

THE FINAL CHAPTER: The Pirates have won 11 of their first 20 games this month after winning a total of just eight games in August (8-21)...They went 11-12 last September and have not posted a winning final month since 1992 (21-8).
