Biography: Originally known as Kouryuu, which means “river flow”, because he had been found abandoned down a river in his youth. An orphan, he was taken in by Koumyou Sanzo, who recognized the potential of his powers and took him on as his pupil. Koumyou, his master, was the guardian of the Seiten and Maten Scriptures, but was killed when demons came to steal the Seiten Scripture. Koumyou declares him Genjo Sanzo (a Buddhist name) before he dies. Thus, he takes the Maten Scripture and leaves the temple in search of the missing Seiten Scripture. With the breakout of hostilities between man and demon, the unorthodox monk was sent west to India in the company of three powerful demonic allies to prevent the rebirth of the powerful demon Gyumaoh and quell the demonic unrest that plagues the land. His allies, however, tend to get on his nerves at times. Quite often, he can be found making death threats to try and shut them up, displaying no qualms about pointing his banishing gun at them. He also smacks them with a paper fan, a popular comedic prop in Japanese culture. He likes to drink and smoke.

Biography: Three years before the present time of this story, his name was Cho Gonou and he was in love with a woman named Kanan. However, Kanan was abducted to be taken to Hyakugan Maoh, a powerful demon that likes to toy with beautiful women and then eat them when he grows bored with them. Gonou became enraged and went on a murderous killing spree, massacring any and all demons even remotely related to the abduction. He finally finds Kanan, but she takes his dagger and kills herself after revealing to him that Hyakugan Maoh’s child is already growing inside of her. By this time, Gonou has become a demon, because he has killed over 1000 demons (this is a legend in this story). A full demon that needs demon power limiters (his ear cuffs). He is the most mature character in the group, always acting as the peacemaker, saying, “Now, now,” to everyone else. He is also smart and analytical. He generally remains calm and tends to make the more ironic comments. His powers, as a limited demon, lie in Qigong techniques. He has a dragon named Hakuryu, who can transform into a jeep. Hakkai is always the driver. He drinks, but does not smoke.

Biography: Raised by his step-mother, Gojyo had a troubled childhood that left him scarred. The mere sight of him would bring his mother to tears, since he was a reminder that his demonic father, her husband, had a child with some other human woman. Unable to take it any longer, Gojyo's mother moved to end her suffering and rid herself of Gojyo. If not for the intervention by Gojyo's half-brother, Dokugakuji, he would have died. Being a half-demon, half-human, he has crimson hair and crimson eyes. This is also why he does not wear demon power limiters. He is a chronic womanizer and makes bed jokes every so often. He likes to drink and smoke. He also gambles, and though he is good at cheating at cards, he is actually a good card player as well. He is an anchor when it comes to swimming. He is the second most childish character of the four and can constantly be found picking on Goku, which always grows into a shouting match of insults much to the displeasure of Sanzo.

Biography: Ostensibly, an 18-year-old monkey demon. He is the childish character, who tends to have a somewhat naïve and innocent outlook on life and people. He is constantly hungry, and always thinking with his stomach. This is where his keen sense of smell can come in handy, since he can smell things that don't necessarily qualify as food. Being a demon, he must wear the gold band around his head, which is his demon power limiter. He loves a tough opponent to fight, as if he’s found a new game to beat. His weapon is the nyoi-bou, his staff, which can also turn into the three-sectional staff, which he calls the nyoi-sansetsu-bou. When his demon power limiter comes off, he transforms into his demon self and cannot distinguish between friend and foe, tearing into both with equal ferocity. He's arguably the most powerful demon in this show while in this form. Born from a rock, Goku was chained in a craggy prison for 500 years, but he does not remember why he was put there. All he knows is that he must have done something terrible to deserve it. A subconscious call leads Sanzo to rescue him and he has been tagging along ever since.

Son Goku was put in prison because he turned into the seitan taisei while he was in heaven. He massacured many gods. Find out in my Gaiden Page.
