From Dingy Basement to Spectacular Home Theater

While we were looking for our first home, Rob, my husband, knew he wanted a home theater in the basement. House after house we looked for a place that would suit both of our desires. When we finally found our home, Rob bought the home theater equipment before we moved in! He was so excited to start building it himself (with the help of his friends, of course). It took my husband and friends alittle over two months of work but the finished prduct was well worth the effort. We now host movie parties for our friends and have our own dinner and a movie dates without leaving the house. Check out the photos below to see the before, during and after photos. Enjoy!

Basement Before

Before the project started, the basement has painted concrete floors and painted drywall. In the corner of the basement, there was water damage. Not only did my husband have to figure out the logistics of a home theater but he also had to keep the water out of the basement!!!

Basement During the Remodel

Luckily, my husband is very handy with construction even though he is a saleman by day. He also has friends in the various trade unions and my brother is a union carpenter. Everyone, except me, pitched in to make the home theater outstanding. While Rob was doing the basement, I was working on other parts of the house. Plus, it smelled like mold and paint down there.

The finished product was everything my husband dreamed of. During the football season, we have all of our friends over each week to watch the game on the big screen. Our friends will also make movie night requests. I have to keep popcorn on my grocery list!!
