Although an age is never put to him by Tolkein himself, Legolas is beleived, by Peter Jackson, to be about 2931 years old. (That makes him alittle older than Arwen!) As a messenger for his father, King Thranduil of Mirkwood, he was sent to Rivendell to tell Gandalf of Gollum's escape. He then joins the Fellowship, and from then on, he plays a great role in The Lord of the Rings. He is very swift with his weapons, and has a dead aim with a bow. (While being able to shoot two or three at a time)
A while
after the War of the Ring, After King Aragorn died, Gimli and Legolas were
the last of the Fellowship in Middle-earth. Legolas built a grey ship in
Ithilien. The two friends then sailed to Valinor, where they joined Frodo,
Gandalf, Sam and the Elves who had gone before.
(Sidenote:
It is thought that Gimli went with him, but it is not for sure.)
