2 Cups | Flour |
1 1/3 Cup | Sugar |
1 Tsp | Baking Powder |
1 1/2 Tsp | Baking Soda |
1/4 Tsp | Salt |
1/2 Cup | Shortening |
3 | Eggs |
1/2 Cup | Lemon Juice, freshly squeezed |
1/2 Cup | Sour Cream or Yogurt, plain |
3/4 Cup | Almonds, ground |
| Lemon glaze, divided |
1) Blend flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt together; set aside.
2) Blend sugar, shortening and eggs together.
3) Blend in lemon juice and sour cream.
4) Stir in almonds.
5) Blend together, place in loaf pan.
6) Bake at 350 F for 1 hour.
7) Insert slices in bread.
8) Spoon half lemon glaze over warm bread.
9) After 10 minutes, spoon remaining lemon glaze over bread.
Lemon Glaze
1/3 Cup | Icing Sugar |
1/4 Cup | Lemon Juice |
1/4 Tsp | Lemon Peel, minced |
1) Combine icing sugar, lemon juice and lemon peel together in saucepan. Heat thoroughly.
2) Glaze over bread.
