Chapter 20

“Well thanks for dinner Nick, it was delicious.” Hannah said as Nick opened the car door to her. “It’s too bad the night’s over.”

“Oh it’s not over yet. I thought I’d show you LA a little bit. It comes to life at night.”

“Alright then, chauffeur, show me the city.” Hannah sat back as Nick turned out of the restaurant.

Nick drove Hannah all over LA. He showed her Beverly Hills, China Town, Hollywood, all the landmarks. They even stopped at a jewelry store where Nick bought Hannah a simple gold bracelet. “So you remember this night whenever you look at your wrist,” he told her. Just as they were about to go home Hannah spoke up. “Stop here!”

Nick laid on his brakes, looking around confuse. “The beach, why? It’s closed.”

“I know I know, but I’ve never felt the Pacific ocean before. And it looks so pretty with the moon shining on it like that.”

“You’re going swimming?”

“No, I just wanna walk along the shore.”

Before he could object, Hannah was off skipping to the ocean. She hopped along as she threw off her shoes. A full moon shined brightly on the water, Nick caught up with her. “Is this what you wanted?” he asked as she waded through the water, holding up her dress.

“Exactly. On the other side of the country, I can’t believe this is where I’ll be this fall.”

Moving his hand though his hair, Nick’s stomach dropped. “That’s right, and you did it all on your own. Are you ready to go back now? It’s late.”

“Not yet, would you dance with me? To the crashing of the waves, it’s just so magical out tonight.”

“If that’s what you want, that’s what you shall have," Nick answered as he took her hand and circled her around. Slowly they danced. Their bodies pressed tightly. Hannah lifted her head staring into Nick’s blue eyes. She put her hand behind Nick’s neck and moved her fingers across his short hair and smooth skin, while watching her bracelet glitter in the moonlight. With natural instinct Nick knelt down, pressing his lips against hers. Together they kissed with the waves crashing forward and back on the shore. The cool wind blowing around their warm embrace.

As if drowning in each other's touch they could not tear themselves apart. Their lips glued together and their breath steadily increasing, their hearts pounding. The excitement surrounding them, locked inside their kiss.

Nick gently pulled back and looked in her endearing brown eyes. “You’re so amazing. I’ve wanted to do that since the moment I first laid eyes on you, with all that mustard on your dress.”

She took his hand in hers, “And I’ve wanted you to. But it was so complicated I guess.”

“Not anymore.”

Hannah looked down at the sand and then back up at him. “I,” she hesitated, “I love you Nick.” She looked directly in his eyes, “I know it’s crazy, and we barely know each other, but I...” Nick silenced her with another kiss.

“I love you too.” Smiling she pulled him down to her and kissed him. After five minutes Nick broke away and took both her hands, “Come with me to the Bahamas next week." Hannah looked at him, “All the Backstreet Boys are gonna be there recording. It probably won’t be that much fun for you, but I want you to come. I can’t bear to leave you now, even it it’s just for a couple weeks.”

Hannah thought about it for a moment, and then answered. “OK, I’ll be there.” They kissed again and walked hand in hand back to the car.
