The Songhrati Struggle For Freedom

For nearly 100 years the people of our archipelago lived quietly, desiring to cause no one harm and wishing only for peace. Throughout the 1960's, there began an insidious trend by neighbouring nations to encroach upon our territory and take from us what is rightfully ours.

THE TRAGEDY OF MORAC-SONGHRATI-MEADS

Morac-Songhrati-Meads is a state located in the Humanity Sea (known by some as the South China Sea). It is a sovereign nation, as defined by the Treaty of Southwark (1893), The Treaty of Kuching (1897) and the Churchill-Ryant Agreement of 1944 (amongst others).

November 1971 - Morac-Songhrati-Meads is invaded by China. Following this, Taiwan, the Philippines and South Vietnam also take advantage of our nation's lack of military might and invade. These nations (along with Malaysia) station troops throughout our country and begin to plunder our hard earned wealth. Since then, Morac-Songhrati-Meads has remained occupied by these nations which apply a strategy of destruction of our natural habitat for their own economic benefit and impoverishment of the Songhrato people. Meanwhile international opinion shows a quasi-general indifference to our plight. Although Songhrati has enormous natural resources like natural gas and oil and fisheries (providing US$ billions per year for the invading nations and complicit multinational oil companies), the Songhrato are living in poverty in foreign lands.

Morac-Songhrati-Meads is NOT China, it is NOT Vietnam, it is NOT the Philippines, it is NOT Taiwan, it is NOT Malaysia.

The Government-in-Exile calls upon men and women of good will, supporters of peace, democracy and justice to help it for its struggle for the independence of Morac-Songhrati-Meads.

Our objectives during our struggle for liberation

a) Gain acceptance of the rights of the Songhrato to regain autodetermination and independence

b) Fight against the formal annexation of our archipelago by any other country.

c) Negotiate with the invading nations for the independence of our country.

After our struggle for Liberation is successful

a) The government will act for the total independence of Morac-Songhrati-Meads with a democratic society based upon multiple political parties, economic development, freedom of enterprise, justice, tolerance and peace.

b) The present exiled government is committed to warranting human rights, freedom of expression, opinion, association and religion within the Independent State of Morac-Songhrati-Meads. The government is committed to the protection of non-citizens, their belongings and freedom of action in accordance with our laws and the equality of all people.

c) Organise free and democratic elections.

d) Encourage the return of exiled Songhrato to assist with the National re-construction.

e) Preserve the relationship of reciprocal friendship with all neighbouring countries and others without discrimination.

What can we guarantee to our Allies in this time of need?

An old Songhrato saying goes "one never forgets those who helped him in difficult circumstances". And because "a kind act is never a lost act", this will also apply to us.

Morac-Songhrati-Meads is a state whose infrastructure will develop considerably in the future. Our fabulous natural resources will help in regaining our Prosperity. The gratitude of Morac-Songhrati-Meads towards its friends for assisting in the re-establishment of our country's sovereignty will be borne out by preferential relationship status with Morac-Songhrati-Meads.

Evidence of Foreign Incursion

Above is a photo of a Chinese military base built on a reef near Goring Isle. It is developments like these, in distinct contradiction to United Nations and ASEAN Declarations that have deposited thousands of soldiers onto our shores, polluting our country and raping our resources.

What You can do to help us

Individuals can do much to help the people of Morac-Songhrati-Meads regain their homeland. Many voices will always be heard better than one.

For further information on what you can do in your local area to assist in our quest for freedom, contact our Operatives in the Field.

We are in solidarity with the following Freedom Fighters
Forces of Liberation of the State of Cabinda (F.L.E.C.)
The Free West Papua Movement - Organisesi Papua Merdeka (OPM)
The Bougainville Resistance Army

And we fully support the aims and objectives of UNPO (Except for the Udmurtese; they're kinda funny looking and our Foreign Minister had an unfortunate experience with some Udmurtese involving vodka, a perhaps slightly undiplomatic joke involving Udmurtese and reindeer, and a rather large knife in close proximity to his genitals).
