Chapter 1

When I was four, my mom left me at home while she went to do errands she said she'd come right back. She never did. The landlord threw me out on the street. I was left alone to wander around the streets. On the third day of being on the streets, I begged a man to give me just a little bit of food. He told me to scram. As I was walking dejectedly away, a man about twenty years old came up to me.

"Where are your parents little one?" he asked.

"I don't got no dad and my momma left me." I answered.

"Well you come along with me and I'll feed you," he said.

I was so hungry, so I went with him. I didn't know it then, but that was the turning point of my life.
