NOTES AND THOUGHTS

Loss is not necessarily defeat.

There's nothing wrong with winning, provided that what you are winning is a contest.

Not all conflicts are contests.

What's the best/worst thing that could happen to me/him if 1/he wins/loses?

Conflict is part of the natural order of things.

All conflicts are not equally threatening.

All conflicts are not equally serious.

Be aware of your conflicts.

Never extend your counterattack beyond the possibility of return.

Don't fight if you don't have to.

Not all principle is serious priority, you have the right to life and the sanction of the entire universe to fight to preserve it.

Never fight anyone who has nothing to lose.

Always respond from your center (Seika no itten or Seika tanden).

Use the minimum force necessary to restore harmony.

In any conflict you must estimate:
Pertinence
Time
Place
Spirit
Fight back in three stages:
Immobilization
Control
Restoration of harmony

Unfair fighting causes your opponent to fight harder.

Generalizations and exaggerations make it difficult to control the opposition. The purpose of conflict is harmony.

The best victory is the one in which everybody wins.

Your body communicates your intentions through: Face

Posture

Spacial relationship

Attack when it is a question of life or death, when there is no other option, when it is a question of serious priority.

It all centers around balance.

It all balances around center.

Aiki: Accept, harmonize redirect, lead.

Be the water, not the rock.

Circular attacks are designed to:
Deceive
Confuse
Buy time

All enemies are bad enemies.

The more committed your attacker is, the easier it is for you to handle him if your balanced.

The wages of harmony are peace.

Spirit is the union of life with life.

Whole is what we want.

You do no one a favor by letting a conflict go unresolved.

The shortest distance between you and anything else is a straight line.

Control your emotions - lest they control you.

Fire Earth Water Air
Attack Do Nothing Deception Parley
- - Withdrawal Aiki

Take care of yourself because you deserve it.
