By the e-mails I´ve got from all over the world we can see that Livernosed Rhodesian Ridgebacks are very rare everywhere!

Sweden

Emoyenis Ruddy Hurricane Boy In Sweden we got our first liver champ in 1975.
This was the UK import Nordic Champion Rhosaf M´Kimba bred by Miss Thornton and Miss Sturdy UK. imported and owned by Birgitta Mouchard - Kennel Haiba´s. She bred the second liver to become champion in 1981. SCh Haiba´s Jabari
It would take sixteen years for the Swedish RR population to see another liver be champion. This was the excellent sire SCh Alfalyans En Sån Lever "Simba" bred by Mr & Mrs Birgersson, Alfalyans Kennel, Sweden. By now, his puppies are hitting the rings and only the future can tell...
The next liver to become champion was SCh Excelsior Bred by Mr. Gert Waldenström and owned by Mr & Mrs Severin. Sadly, a short period after gaining his championtitle, Excelsior would suffer to a tragicall accident and couldnt be saved
Emoyeni´s Ruddy Hurricane Boy (bred by Mr & Mrs Falk and owned by Tobias Strandh) was runner up BISS-Liver in 1997 and BISS-Liver in 1998 on the Swedish speciallity.
In 1999 the liver-BISS on the speciallity was to go to CaineAbels Red Pongezi (bred by Ulla Thedin and owned by Mr. & Mrs Severin) a very welcome little dame in the Severin house.(Present owners of Excelsior)

Xoxa grandchildren (out of SCH LP1 Alfalyans Anna) from the kennel of Monomotapas is now growing up in Sweden. Most of them are livers themselves!! As Xoxa has mated some bitches in Denmark and Sweden his genes will be spreading and hopefully there will be more livers from this wonderful dog!!

France

Click here to read Sian Halls article about livernoses
The livernose in France begins to be known and appreciated with the general public. At present some people avid to obtain a R/R ask for a livernose, essentially because of the excellent temperament. The lineages of livernoses arise mainly from current of South African or English bloodline, a little bit American. For 2 or 3 years, between 10 % and 15 % of R/R's annual births ( almost 200 births by year)are livernoses. Their average qualities are superior to those of the black noses. in spite of still certain hesitations of the part " of inflexible beotians " the livernose in France is promised to the beautiful future.

Holland-Netherlands

Apparently there has been onely one "liverlitter" born here til now, but I´ve learned by mail that one litter recently has been born and expecting pictures there from.

Germany

Igor from Austria

Austria

Austria is not known for either Ridgebacks or Livernoses, hopefully with this lovely dog this will change!
Igor is the offspring of the legendary S Dk Kwetus Xoxa in Denmark (read above in the Denmark section).
The kennel he comes from kept one of them Chitonga and had a litter with her last year, also with 4 or 5 livers

Irland

Learnt by mail from Irish RR Club, that no show-livers has been born here but waiting for more info here too.
Xhosa from Eilack Kennels-UK

United Kingdom

A great deal of the lines we have seen in Scandinavia origins in UK. Amoung other kennels wearthy of mencioning is Eilack (Mr & Mrs Selby), Rejan (Mrs J Parker) Mirengos (Mr & Mrs Woodroow) has been well known to breed livers.
Vizara Shemesh of Shabani has sired a few litters with livers. One of them, a bitch, won her class at Crufts this year. In May he had antoher litter with plenty of livers. So far to my knowledge there is only England that have produced showlivers even though there are lovely livers in aswell Scotland and Wales.
Nandi from Israel

Israel

This is Kwetu's Nandi, owned by Orit Nevo. (co bred by Barbara Saywer Brown and Denise Ivy.) Imported to Israel from USA.
Her dam is Ch Kwetu's Peace Chance (aka Brenns) her dad is Ch Rare Earth's Quantum Leap (aka Becket)

United States.

TAU More livers seems to have made it here in America than in other places. What can the explantion to this bee? Are there a bigger percentage of livers here, or is the judges more eager to judge a "total dog" (ika. looks, movements, apperence etc.) than in other countries?
Two livers who had a major influence on the breed here was at first Tau of Voortrekkerhoogte who was exported to USA in 1959 by the wellkown Ridgebackbreeder Mr Tom Hawley.
The other came in the middle 70:s and was called Ch Guardsman of Kimbida. R.O.M. whose son Ch Rutan Mpenzi Rafiki of Gera, R.O.M. still hold the topstudrecord of by no less than 75 championoffspring.
Ofcourse the Kwetu Kennel has been of great influence here aswell but one of few livers who has been placed as BIS is Ketarus Sheena of Fairview - Philly owned by Mrs Linda Spector.
The Globes Kennel who has produced the top stud Red Regent aswell as his sister Chuma (in Finland) is from US. A strange fact is that this kennel, who has made such an impact in Africa and Europe nearly have any wellknown livers to show for in the US. We here in Europe is the more gratefull for the fact that their best dogs have had the chance to liverize Europe!!

Australia

Liver nosed dogs in Australia are hard to title as some judges think that they are inferior because of their colour
Mrs Jenny Arthur, South Wales, Australia, the owner of the prefix,'Laughing Willows' or sometimes seen as L'Willows, has for many years bred liver nosed dogs in this country and most of those now here can trace their origins to her breeding lines.
The first RR litter registered in Australia was bred by Michael Adams in Mundaring, Western Australia in September 1967. Only one puppy survived to be registered - this was Serengeti Simba. Serengeti Simba was mated to Sikota of Owlsmoor (Imp UK) by John and Connie Churchill and one of that litter, a bitch called Sikota True (brown-nosed) became the first titled RR in Western Australia. Much later Serengeti Simba's grandson, Ch. Pethaven Karoo (Sikota Spok x Sikota Moonora) became the State's last brown-nosed champion until 1999 when Ch. Breekama Tutu gained his title, at the same time winning the RRCWA's Pointscore Competition, the first brwon-nosed RR to do so. Kennels in WA who breed brown-nosed RRs on a deliberate basis are: Tyandroma Kennels - Marion Banks, Jennifer Newill & Nancy Banks (Cogden) Nancy Banks & Elizabeth Case (Drumdana) Elizabeth Case (Londoloza) Tanya Dudek (Drumrigel)
One known livernose in Australia is Lionsperil Beaufighter (pet named, Mak, short for Makali, the sharp edge of a knife in Swahali) who is now 8 1/2 years old. He has fathered Aust Ch Kyalami Cas Beaujolais and hopefully the liverlines will follow his name!
An other known liver is "Corky" (Aust. Champion Usakose Town Temptress) who is sired by Grand Aust. Champion Usakose Talk of the Town (AI) out of Usakose Taylored Edition CD AD. "Corky" is a Runner Up Best Exhibit in Show Specialty winner and the dam of Multiple Best Exhibit in Show Specialty winners as well as 7 Australian Champions and has a son being shown at the moment in South Africa. Her sire "Talk of the Town" is obviously a carrier of the brown gene - being a black nose himself however he has brown toe nails, etc. He has just sired a litter of 7 with 2 livers from a black nose bitch and at Christmas he has a litter due from a Liver nose bitch so we will see a small "population" explosion of livers in Australia around Christmas time 1999.

Kennels that have produced livers in Australia are -
Birdieridge - Mrs W. Strauss
Bulawayo - Mrs A. Biebertiz
Cabinda - Miss C. Deeker
Kipsigis - Mrs G. Jane
Kirafiki - Mr R. Stewart
Lionspride - Mr & Mrs D. Hemmings
Skiska - Ms L. Lewis
Ulundi - Miss J. Murray
Tyandroma Kennels - Marion Banks
Cogden - Jennifer Newill & Nancy Banks
Drumdana - Nancy Banks & Elizabeth Case
Londoloza - Elizabeth Case
Drumrigel - Tanya Dudek
There are some great winners here too, such as Ch Bulawayo Seeta CD he was the first Ridgeback to gain his CD title in Victoria. Ch Kirafiki Kutu was a specialty BIS winner. The girls also make there marks in the ring Ch Skiska Fujiyama was the first liver to gain her title with no 6 point CC's in Victoria and was a BIG and multi class in group/show winner as was Ch Cabinda Cat Balou CDX.
