Materials

 

Rowanspun 4-ply can be bought here. The hand-dyed variegated yarns used here can be ordered via the Woolclip. The main shade was got from Prestige Yarns

 

v  Pair of 6mm needles

v  6mm crochet hook

v  Yarn darning needle

v  Ribbon

v  200g of aran weight jade/turquoise yarn – is 30% silk, 70% Blue-Faced Leicester (a)

v  25g Rowanspun 4-ply shade 725 ‘Temptation’, purple (b)

v  25g Rowanspun 4-ply shade 702 ‘Stone’, grey (c)

v  25g Rowanspun 4-ply shade 708 ‘Midnight’, dark green (d)

v  50g variegated boucle - mine is Spinning Gallery Yarns, Loopy Boucle, shade ‘Blue Pools’ (e)

v  50g variegated handspun – mine is Spinning Gallery Yarns, Luxury DK, shade ‘Blue Pools’ (f)

v  Bottom welt:

v  Using yarn (a), cast on 71 sts.

v  Row One: (K1, P1) to end

v  Row Two: Join in yarn (b) and work with both yarns plied together. (K1, P1) to end

v  Row Three: Break off yarn (b) and join in yarn (c) and work with both yarns plied together. (K1, P1) to end

v  Row Four: Break off yarn (c) and join in yarn (d) and work with both yarns plied together. (K1, P1) to end

v  Row Five: Break off yarn (d) and work with just yarn (a): (K1, P1) to end

v  Purl one row

v  Commence pattern:

v  Row One: Using yarn (a), (K1 wrapping yarn twice around needle) to end

v  Shape neck:

v  K2tog, K8, cast off 20 sts., K to last 2 sts., sl1k1psso

v  Right neck:

v  Row One: P7, P2tog

v  Row Two: Break off yarn (e) and join in yarn (a). (K1 wrapping yarn twice around needle) to last 2 sts., sl1k1psso

v  As Row Five, dec. 1 at each end

v  Row Four: Break off yarn (c) and join in yarn (d) and work with both yarns plied together. (K1, P1) to end

v  Row Five: Break off yarn (d) and work with just yarn (a): K to end

v  Starting with a P row, Commence pattern in st. st. (inc. 1 st. at each end of every sixth row from first row onwards until 51 sts.):

v  Three rows in yarn (b)

v  Three rows in yarn (c)

v  Three rows in yarn (d)

v  Three rows in yarn (e)

v  Three rows in yarn (f)

v  Three rows in yarn (g)

v  Repeat three times more, casting off five sts. at beg. of last two rows of the final ‘Three rows in yarn (g)’

v  Shape raglan:

v  P one row. Cast off. It should be in yarn (f).

 

 

Making up

 

v  Sew pieces together

v  Yoke:

v  Round One: Using yarn (b) tr. into every st. around neck.

v  Round Two: Using yarn (c) dc. into every st.

v  Round Three: Using yarn (d) dc. into every st.

v  Round Four: Using yarn (e) tr. into every alt st.

v  Round Five: Using yarn (f) dc. into every st.

v  Round Six: Using yarn (g) dc. into every st.

v  Using crochet hook and yarn (a) pick up all the sts. round one side of the neck and put on knitting needle.

v  Row One: (K1, P1) to end

v  Row Two: Join in yarn (b) and work with both yarns plied together. (K1, P1) to end

v  Row Three: Break off yarn (b) and join in yarn (c) and work with both yarns plied together. (K1, P1) to end

v  Row Four: Break off yarn (c) and join in yarn (d) and work with both yarns plied together. (K1, P1) to end

v  Row Five: Break off yarn (d) and work with just yarn (a): (K1, P1) to end

v  Cast off.

v  Do the same for the other side. Sew the edges of the two halves together.

v  Try jumper on, and decide where to lace the ribbon through. Pull through every other st. on a wrapped round twice row. Pull up and tie together, ensuring that it’s loose enough to be pulled off and on.
