INSTRUCTORS AND CLASS INFORMATION

Mime will be taught by Frank Engel. Frank has studied mime and dance for the past 20 years, most of those in Europe. Those interested in Mime are encouraged to attend the first class and try out, 10-15 people will be chosen to continue. (Auditioned class)

Antoinette Martens, a local artist who ran her own puppet theatre for many years in Vancouver, will teach Puppet Theatre. Participants will create their own papier-mache puppets and use them to bring their own play to life.

Theresa Spilchen, a homeschooling mum with a background in early childhood education, will lead Storytime/Storytheatre. Theresa will tell stories, sing songs and rhymes with the little ones. They will also learn simple theatre games and act out favourite rhymes and stories.

Intro. to Shakespeare will be taught by Kim Searle, a homeschooling mum and the director of Shakespeare’s Shadows (a youth drama troupe who perform Shakespeare unabridged). Participants will explore Shakespeare’s plays and language.

Theatre Games will be led by April Coulterman a TAC (teen YAC) alumni. She is currently enrolled in drama classes at the U of S. April will lead participants through fun theatre games; they will learn great skills along the way.
