Description (details & conditions):

Here is a very project car that you can drive and enjoy with while you work on it. With the small block Chevy engine and a 4-Speed you'll have fun at your local cruise nights.

BODY...The body is nice and straight with minimal body filler, with the exception of the right fender, that has a couple of dents in it. The fender is repairable, or you could get a used one. The front pan behind the front bumper needs some work, as does the tail pan in front of the rear bumper. There are some "rust bubbles" on the foot of the left front fender, on the left 1/4 panel, and above the right 1/4 glass. The doors and trunk lid fit and close very good, but the hood needs a little adjustment.

PAINT...This classic has Fair (driver quality) paint that looks good from 20'. The white roof would look better with a buffing, but the car really needs a new paint job some day.

CHROME/STAINLESS...A nice thing about this car is that the stainless steel is all there, and it's in very good condtion, except for a couple of small dings. The grille and grille bars need replacing. Bezels, hood bird, door handles, and scripts all have some pitting.

BUMPERS...Both bumpers will need to be straightened a bit and re-chromed.

GLASS...The windshield has a vertical crack in it. The pass. side door glass has several cracks in it. Both 1/4 glass have some glass seperation (bubbles) between the glass, and the vent windows have some tiny edge bubbles.

WEATHERSTRIPPING...The door and trunk weatherstripping is in need of replacement.

ENGINE...I believe the engine is a 350 c.i. (maybe a 283) and it runs very good. There are no oil leaks or engine knocks. I have to adjust the idle speed the next time I drive it. We put in a New InterState battery, and there is a nice used radiator support that goes with the car.

CARBURATOR...The Rochester 2 bbl carb works good now, but could use a rebuild kit.

TRANSMISSION...The 4-Speed works fine and the clutch seems very strong too!

EXHAUST...The exhaust manifolds need to be sand blasted and repainted. The older dual exhaust stiil works good, but has some surface rust.

BRAKES...The brakes were not good when I bought the car. We have had the brakes completely rebuilt with all New Master Cylinders, and Brakes Shoes. Now they work great and the emergency brake works good too!

TIRES...The tires were bad, so I had 4) New Uniroyal Tiger Paws P215/70R15 tires put on.

WHEELS/HUBCAPS...The chrome wheels were bad also, so I put a set of good condition GM mags on the car.

INTERIOR...The interior needs alot of attention. Mice had their way with this car for awhile. I removed and cleaned the seats and threw out the carpet. This helped quite a bit. There has been an after-market Woodgrain Steering Wheel installed and it looks good.

SEATS...This '56 has the original front bench and rear seats. They are re-covered in a black diamond pattern vinyl. The driver's side seat is done in a smooth vinyl. The vinyl is in good shape.

DOOR PANELS...The black vinyl door panels are in pretty good shape, except for the speaker area in the front door panels.

WINDOW OPERATION...All windows work very good, except the left back window is not securely in it's track.

HEADLINER...There is no headliner in the car, but the bows and original roof insulation are intact.

CARPET...I took the carpet out and discarded it, but I left the pad in for sound deadening, but that has got to go too!

DASH....The dash need to be re-painted and a Bel Air dash trim set installed. The dash cluster has cracked glass. All of the original switches and heater controls are there.

INSTRUMENTS/ELECTRICAL...Headlights do not work. Brake lights work. The rear turn signals work, but the front ones do not. The turn signal lever needs a little work.

RADIO...There is no radio in the car.

TRUNK...The trunk floor is very good. The spare tire well has had the bottom 3 inches cut out. There is some rust in the corners of trunk tail pan.

FRAME...The frame and body mounts are very good and show no serios rust problems.

FLOORS...Underneath the car the floor pans look very except the Right front and rear floor have some holes. Under the carpet the sills have some rust also. All of the floor rust could possibly be repaired with a POR15 Floor Pan kit. The floors are not that bad that they can not be repaired, instead of going through a major sheet metal replacement project.

ROCKERS/BRACES...Another reason not to replace the floor pans is that the rockers and floor braces are in very good condition with no major rust issues.

SUSPENSION...The suspension seems to be very good. There are "air shocks" on the rear (not sure if they work). The car steers very good.
