Description (details & conditions):
Here is a very good looking '55 2-door sedan. It runs and drives good and with headers and "cool" mufflers, it sounds even better. It's not a perfect car...there were some problems under the car that were repaired, not with reproduction parts, but it is solid.
VIN # B55N122542
PLEASE NOTE: Here is a list of New (In the box) parts I'm selling with the car. This is just a few cosmetic items it needs:
Hood Bird, Hood Springs, Hood Adjustment Bolt Set, Hood Emblem, Trunk Emblem, Taillight Bezels, Lenses, and Back-Up Lenses. These parts are just over a $400.00 value, and they go with the car!
BODY...The body is very straight. It looks very good from just a few feet away. There are just a few minor blemishes on the body and roof. The driver's door has a slight sag to it. The trunk lid needs a little adjustment. There is some filler on the 1/4 panels in front of the rear wheels, but it looks nice. There is a small amount of filler cracking on the right side, lead seam, under the trunk lid.
PAINT...This car has a very nice newer paint job. It shines very good.
CHROME/STAINLESS...The stainless steel is in very good condition. There is just a couple of very tiny dings. Some of the chrome pieces are pitted, but we are putting New Pieces with the car. With these new chrome items, the exterior will look really nice!
BUMPERS...The previous owner had the bumpers painted and they are straight. Chrome bumpers would look nicer, in my opinion.
GLASS...There are No cracks or major chips. The side glass has been tinted, but it's not a very good job. There is just some slight edge bubbles on the vent windows.
WEATHERSTRIPPING...The door and trunk weatherstripping is all intact, but it shows it's age. The driver's door needs a little attention.
ENGINE...The 350 engine starts and runs good. There is an electric fuel pump controlled by a switch under the dash. The engine has an aluminum Edelbrock manifold, Edelbrock chrome valve covers, and a chrome altenator.
CARBURATOR...It comes with a newer Edelbrock 4 barrel carburator.
TRANSMISSION...The 350 TH transmission is shifted by a B & M shifter mounted on the floor. Transmission works well.
EXHAUST...It starts with a pair of Hooker Compition headers and ends with a very new looking complete exhaust system. The whole system sounds very nice (a nice rumble to it!)
BRAKES...The original drum brakes work well.
TIRES...The front tires are Cooper "Trendsetter" P215/75R15 and are like new. The rear tires are Douglas "performance GT" P215/70R14, also like new.
WHEELS/HUBCAPS...The America Racing 5 spoke mags really look good on this '55 Classic. They will need some minor rust removal.
INTERIOR...The interior is a very nice, with custom seats and door panels. It does need a little work, so if you like to work on your cars and take pride in finishing projects, this '55 is for you. Some of the visible items that need to be finished are: kick panels, windlace, some wiring, and rear seat arm rests. The kick panel side vents work!
SEATS...The seats are done in a deep purple tuck and roll fabric with black vinyl trim. They are in good condition and sit well. There is a tiny cigarette burn on the drivers seat.
DOOR PANELS...The door panels are in good condition. The stainless steel trim needs some attention (loose). The rear seat panels are not finished below the missing armrests.
HEADLINER...There is no headliner in the car now, but the previous owner purchased a kit, and it is in the trunk, with the bows.
CARPET...The black carpet is in very good condition.
DASH....This classic '55 has a very nice original dash, not cut up. The paint is good. It comes with the clock option. Heater levers and knobs are missing. Cigarette lighter is not original.
INSTRUMENTS/ELECTRICAL...Headlights work, but the turn signals need some work in the steering column area. Turn signals work, somewhat. There is a working Sun "Super Tach" mounted on the steering column. There is also a set of after-market guages mounted below the glove box that seem to work well.
RADIO...It has an after-market JVC AM/FM cassette that does not work, now
TRUNK...The trunk is in very good condition. It's been repainted and looks to have a very solid floor and No rust in the trunk rail. There is no spare tire or jack.
FRAME...The frame seems to be very solid as most '55s have.
FLOOR...This is the area that looks like some problems, but as you look closer, the repairs were made fairly well. The correct way of course, is to use correct sheet metal and braces, but this could have been done many years ago when parts were not so easy to get. The outer 18" of each side of the floors were replaced with flat steel and some tube-steel floor braces. It looks solid, but just not as good as it would be with correct replacement parts.
UNDERCARRIAGE...There are no inner rockers. The undercarriage looks bad to begin with, but take a closer look and you'll see that the repairs made to this car will, in all likely-hood, last for many, many years.
RUST...The rear braces have not been repaired and show rust at the ends. There is a 2" hole in one of the body mounts.
