Description (details & conditions):

I get asked many times about a project car for a father and son team. This could be one of those cars! It runs and drives very nice, has lots of power (3 - 2 barrel carbs), and potential. It will need quite a lot of work....a little of every thing, some 1/4 panel, and rocker panel body work, paint, lots of interior work, some floor pan repair, and an engine detailing. I think that fact that you can drive it and have some fun with it, while you work on it is a BIG plus.

Another thought for this car would be a "Rat Rod" style of a car. It's already in primer, and since it's been in a building where mice prevail, it even has a "mouse" odor to it. Seriously with some imagination, this would make a Great "Rat Rod".

BODY...The body is nice and straight, and the doors, hood and trunk lid close very nicely. The poor primer paint job does not give it a very appealing look. There is a rather large spot of filler on the right rear 1/4 panel above the rear wheel. (see photo)

PAINT...As you can see, it's in primer, and needs a primer touch for the rat rod look or a complete paint job. The original Paint Color was a two-tone: Autumn Bronze and Shoreline Beige. You can see the Bronze in the trunk pictures.

CHROME/STAINLESS...The chrome bezels, grille and grille frame are there, but most have some pitting. All of the stainless is there except the rear quarter belt mouldings under the rear windows, and the upper left corner of the rear window. The stainless steel needs to be polished and/or restored.

BUMPERS...The bumpers are fairly good and would make good driver quality, with just some polishing and light surface rust removal.

GLASS...Windshield: has a dime-size chip on passenger side and a 6" crack from this chip to the top of the windshield. There are some wiper scratches on the driver's side. Back window, and pass side vent windows are very good. Both door glass and the pass. side rear glass have cracks. The driver's side vent window has some edge bubbles.

WEATHERSTRIPPING...The door weatherstripping was painted over and needs to be replaced. The trunk, and cowl WS look very good.

ENGINE...The 327 runs and sounds very good. We put a new fuel pump on, and a new Interstate Battery was installed. The radiator support has been cut out and the fan is about 5" from the radiator. This should be addressed because of future over-heating problems. I've driven it a little but have not seen it get hot yet.

CARBURATOR...The (3) 2 barrel carbs seem to work great but, they look like they need some cleaning, and maybe a rebuild kit. This carb set-up is a very nice highlight on this car!

TRANSMISSION...The 4-Speed works very nice. It has a hurst shifter.

EXHAUST...This '55 comes with headrers and a very nice dual exhaust system. The exhaust looks like it has been replaced lately.

BRAKES...The original brakes work very good. The emergency brake handle is there, but it is not hooked up.

TIRES...Front tires are FR78.15 Uniroyal Radials. Back tires are P235/75R15 Uniroyal tires. All tires are in very good condition.

WHEELS/HUBCAPS...The aluminum 5-Spoke Mag wheels need a little more "elbow grease" than I gave them to get them to look better. They have good potential.

INTERIOR...This car was stored in a building where mice have gotten to it. It has a "mousey odor" and I'm trying to get it taken care of. The interior as a whole will need some extensive work done to it. It is missing a couple of windshield or back window garnish moulding pieces.

SEATS...The front bucket seats are worn and need some attention. They are mounted on wood blocks, which is not the best idea. The recovered back seat is in good condition.

DOOR PANELS...The custom door panels are in bad shape. I'm going to try to re-install them so they will look a bit better. The kick panel vents are missing but the vent doors work very nice.

HEADLINER...The headliner is the original one. It has just a couple of holes in it. Because of the odor, I may have to take it down.

CARPET...Because oft the odors, I removed the shag carpet.

DASH....The dash is one of the highlights of the car. It's all original, not cut up, and intact. The dash trim is in great shape. Even the heater control knobs are not broken off. The controls are not hooked up to the cables.

INSTRUMENTS/ELECTRICAL...The headlights and brake lights work. The steering column needs some work so the turn signals will work better. The vacumn wipers work slowly. The after-market tach and guages work well.

RADIO...The original push button radio does not work.

TRUNK...The trunk is in very good condition. The floor is very solid and the trunk rail is very good too, considering that rust in the floors mean that the trunk rail may be bad also. There is some rust on the outside of the trunk in the area of the lead seams and in front of the bumper on both sides of the trunk. There is a spare tire and jack with the car. The trunk has the original Autumn Bronze paint color and it's original Jacking instructions mounted on the right side of the trunk.

FRAME...The frame and body mounts are in good shape.

FLOOR...There is rust in both front floor pans, and the passenger's side is very weak. There is also some rust in the rocker panels and in the floor braces. The area under the back seat is very good. There is a very small hole in the front right fender near the side of the headlight.

UNDERCARRIAGE...It drives very good, so I think the shocks, gas tank, ball joints, and alignment are in good shape. That's not to to say that some of these items may need to be addressed soon, since the car has been sitting for a while.
