Description (details & conditions):

This is an "All Original" 1955 Chevy station wagon. It will need full restoration. This wagon is 99% complete, and would be a great project for an original restoration. It runs and drives very nice. I've installed a new carburator kit, spark plugs, points and condenser. I'm detailing the engine compartment a little at a time. The car was purchased with a top that had been soda blasted and left that way. I had it painted in the Original "Shoreline Beige" color to preserve it's original look.

BODY...Except for the rust, the body is actually in very good condition. There is No body filler at all on the car. There are no major dents either. There is rust in the outer rockers, and in the tailgate.

PAINT...The top has been freshly painted in Shoreline Beige, but the rest of the paint is the original Autumn Bronze. It needs to be repainted.

CHROME/STAINLESS...All of the stainless is intact, but it needs restoration. There are just a couple of small dents.

BUMPERS...The bumpers are fairly good driver quality. They could be re-chromed without any straightening. The bumper extensions Do Not go with the car!

GLASS...The glass is very good with these exceptions....Driver's door and vent window have edge bubbles. Passenger side front & rear door glass have cracks. Right side of windshield has some wiper scratches.

WEATHERSTRIPPING...It's mostly intact, but there are some cracks, and it shows it's age.

ENGINE...The engine runs great, after a tune-up! I had a new starter, spark plugs, distributor cap, points and condenser installed. We put in a new Interstate battery and battery hold-down bracket. The original oil bath air cleaner was sandblasted and repainted.(It's not in the engine picture now). The generator was rebuilt and a New voltage regulator was installed.

CARBURATOR...The original Rochester 2 bbl carb has a New carb kit installed.

TRANSMISSION...The '55 Chevy has the original Power-Glide automatic and it works fine. I had New transmission seals put in, and the shift linkage adjusted.

EXHAUST...The dual exhaust sounds fine, but the tail pipes need to be replaced.

BRAKES...The original brakes work well.

TIRES...I had New radial tires put on the front. The back radial tires are in very good condition.

WHEELS/HUBCAPS...The Crager SS 5-spoke mags look very good, and just need a little attention as far as cleaning goes. When I get some time I will be doing this.

INTERIOR...Over-all the interior is all there, but it needs complete restoration.

SEATS...The original seats need new covers and the drivers seat will need a little spring work.

DOOR PANELS... The door panels are all intact, but they are worn and need to be replaced. I'm in the process of re-building the driver's side door, window glass etc.

HEADLINER...It's coming down above the drivers seat and, there are a couple of other small tears.

CARPET...There is no carpet in this wagon.

DASH....The metal dash needs to be re-painted. The dash is a great base for restoration. Radio & lighter knobs are not original.

INSTRUMENTS/ELECTRICAL...The headlights (new light switch), turn-signals, and speedometer work fine. It comes with "electric wipers" but they do not work right now.

RADIO...The original radio does not work.

FRAME...The frame looks very solid.

FLOOR...The front floor pans need to be replaced, but the balance look fine.

UNDERCARRIAGE...I had the front end alined. The body mounts look good.

RUST...There is rust in these areas...Inner and outer rockers are Bad, front floor pans, just a little rust in the lift-gate and tail-gate, and the floor braces have some rust, and the worst spot is in the area in the back passenger door rocker area. (see photo).
