Description (details & conditions):
This is an "All Original" and Complete, 1955 Chevy Belair 4-Door classic. The only thing that is not original is the steering wheel. The previous owners drove it for many, many years, but it has not been licensed since 1984. This car is just itch'n for a complete restortaion. It is not running now but I will be working on it to get it running. With the price of 2 door 55's going very high, you might want to get into a 4-door project car at a fraction of the price and even drive this classic around. Make it a "Daily Driver".
BODY...The body is Very straight and has No major dents in it. The doors still fit very well and sound "Factory Solid" when closed. The trunk and hood open and close nicely too.PAINT...This '55 comes in it's original clothes (paint). There are several areas where the paint is peeling. It would look good with a buffing, but the peeling paint is a problem.
CHROME/STAINLESS...All of the stainless is on the car, and it just needs a little work and buffing.
BUMPERS...Both bumpers are pretty straight, but the rear bumper has had a hitched drilled into it. I have removed the hitch. Both bumpers need to be rechromed or would make driver quality as is.
GLASS...Windshield has some wiper scratches. Driver's side front & rear door glass, and Passenger side rear Door glass have some cracks. Back glass is good.
WEATHERSTRIPPING...All weatherstripping (even the Trunk) is in fairly good condition. It's all intact.
ENGINE...The original 265 c.i. V8 does not run now but hope to have it running soon. We installed a New Interstate battery. It has the original oil filter mounted on the intake manifold.
CARBURATOR...I have a new carburator kit for the carb, but it's not installed yet..
TRANSMISSION...This classic comes with a Power-Glide Automatic Transmission. I'm not sure how it works now.
EXHAUST...There is a single exhaust pipe, but there is No muffler or tail pipe.
BRAKES...The Factory drum brakes will need some work after sitting for so long
TIRES...When I received the car the tires went flat. I put the wheels and tires that came off my Nomad. The tires are like new Wide white walls.
WHEELS/HUBCAPS...It has the original style wheels, and driver quality "original style" hub caps.
INTERIOR...The interior is all Original (except for the steering wheel). If you did a Super cleaning job on the interior you could drive it like is, but it's 50 years old.
SEATS...The original seats have some stains and just a couple of tiny tears. Over-all Very Good and sit well!
DOOR PANELS...They are in Fair condition. The driver's door panel armrest and kick panel have some issues. (see picture)
HEADLINER...The original headliner has some staining and about 4 small holes, but it's in a tight position and it's not bad..
CARPET...It's in Fair condition. Needs to replaced, but if it was cleaned, you could drive it as is for a while.
DASH....The paint is cracked and needs attention. There are 2 heater knobs missing. Over-all the dash is in Great shape. The dash trim and knobs look fine.
INSTRUMENTS/ELECTRICAL...I know the headlights work, but I need to get the car running to check out the rest of the lights and guages.
RADIO...I do not think the "Original" Push Button radio works.
TRUNK...The trunk has an original rubber (brittle) floor mat in it. The floors are very solid. There is no spare or jack.
FRAME...The frame is Super solid.
FLOOR...The floors seem to be in "Great Shape", almost no rust.
UNDERCARRIAGE...There is some surface rust under the car.
RUST...There is some Light floor brace rust, and it's better than most Chevy's I've sold. The worst rust is in the back of the rockers (confined to the back door area), and in the trunk rails....see pictures.
